You need to reduce the size of your photo in order to post it here. Use this code and use the PLAIN TEXT format.

<img src=http://i55.tinypic.com/106wmq0.jpg height =275 width =500>

On the message boards, images are not allowed in profiles such as avatars or signatures. The Classic Film Union allows for them and you can upload all kinds of images there quite easily. At the top of the page on black tool bar is Fan Community. The first one underneath is Classic Film Union. As long as you're a member here, you don't have to sign up, you're already registered!

As for here, you don't reall need to place the image into photobucket, but just remember not to place images that will stretch the page (600x600 pixels is the limit).

While you are posting, to the right of where you type is a table called Plain Text Help. It will help you with the coding for putting up images. Basically you place an "!" (w/o the parenthesis) in front of and after (w/o spacing) to the link of the image and it should appear.

Hope this helps!

1. How do I insert my picture on my profile? Where?
2. How do I insert a picture of a star where there is only the icon now?
3. Am I able to use Photobucket?

Yes, they need to already be uploaded to the web. I use tinypic myself.

Remember that in General Discussions, due to some strange glitch, the usual code doesn't work, so you just use exclamation marks on each end.

The first one I tried from my desktop but it didn't work...I guess I needed a real URL.

This code will not work on the General Discussions forum, but it will work on other forums:

To make photos smaller, use this resizing code:

<img src= height =400 width =300>

Put the photo URL address just after the first equal sign =

Leave no space after = and leave one space before the word "height". Like this:

<img src=http://i30.tinypic.com/14vh5bb.jpg height =400 width =300>

Change the numbers to make your photo more or less high and more or less wide.

Go here to test your photos. It might take two or three tries to get your size numbers right:

http://forums.tcm.com/jive/tcm/thread.jspa?threadID=125178&tstart=0

At 400 height and 300 width, the result is this:

This small one is 100 high and 75 wide:

Here is a photo URL address:

http://www.trashfict...uk/fay_wray.jpg

Here is the code to post that photo in the General Discussions forum:

!http://www.trashfict...uk/fay_wray.jpg!

What shows up is this:

Cinemafan,

According to others, you need to have an exclamation point at both ends of the code for it to work in the General Discussions forum.

lz - That had me befuddled - I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong. Thanks for being able to decipher what I was trying to do. And I didn't even have to ask! cinemafan

Lynn,
Actually, when I've posted in the GD forum, I've had to include the ! on both sides of the http address.

Cinemafan,

When inserting a photo in the General Discussion forum, since the upgrade, according to those who have done it, the code has to include an ! at the end.

It's the only forum that requires it. The other forums are still able to post the old fashioned way.
