Thanks for the opportunity to see the original trailer for Queen Christina. If anyone ever had any doubt about M-G-M's involvement in John Gilbert's professional demise, take a look at this trailer. The film could have served as a perfect comeback vehicle for the actor, but not one shot of him in the entire trailer and not even the mention of his name in the credits. It makes it a little difficult to accept the company line that there was no malicious intent on the part of M-G-M and that Gilbert had an ally in Irving Thalberg. My goodness, when you can't get a credit in the trailer the head of production is no friend. As for the excuse of Thalberg's health, it didn't interfere with his protection of Norma Shearer.
