The guy who returns her to her brother-in-law, the one with designs on her, also likes her.

The woman at first doesn't realize her brother-in-law covets her, and his restraining her from leaving she assumes is from some sense of family obligation.

She finally escapes at night hiding in the back of a vehicle. However, she is soon discovered and is forced to return.

Thanks, Star.   I must admit that I haven't seen that one yet.  It sounds like a fun film, even though it flopped.

Next:  While at an employment agency, a woman finds out that there is a job opening at a publishing company.  When she inquires about the position, she is told that she's too attractive to work at that company.

Yes!  At last!  Despite songs by Rodgers & Hart, this movie was a big flop when it was released.

After he leaves, she pretends to be sick.  Her mother calls the doctor, who falls for her ruse, and says that she needs quiet and rest, and so she happily stays in her bedroom.
