People start being nice to those who look down on their luck, and homeless people start flocking to the area.

Thanks, Arturo.  I hope that we'll get to see it on TV soon, too.  I'll be on the lookout for it!

I'll be pretty busy for the next few days, so I'll leave this thread open.

I think that it's The Walls of Jericho. (I've never seen this movie, so I had to look it up. It sounds like a great film!)

Yes you got it! Congratulations.

I find the movie interesting, and better than some of the capsule reviews make it sound. It would be great if TCM would show it, or even FMC. There is a DVD released in Spain a few years ago, and by the looks of it (great print and packaging), it seemed like it was primed for release here as part of the Fox Cinema Classics manufactured DVD series, but unfortunately, in the year they suspended the series.

In a subplot, a young woman kills a would-be rapist, flees the town and hides at the young woman lawyer's place. The lawyer decides to defend her.

The young woman lawyer had to relocate to another town due to the unfavorable publicity, and to ensure that nothibg would happen with her married colleague.

Clue: Between the lawyer's drunken wife and his apparent interest in a young female lawyer, there is plenty to editorialized about him, potentially derailing his political ambitions.

Clue: The lawyer is unhappily married to a heavy drinker, who feels socially inferior around the spurned woman.

And we have a winner!  Good going, Arturo.  Although it is not one of Claire

Trevor's best-known movies, it really is good.  It's yours.
