2. She played the mysterious woman known only as "The Immaculate Conception" in The Song of Bernadette. This casting was pretty controversial because Darnell was an actress with an almost pornographic image in a religious film.

10.) She died on September 8, 1965. An institute of pathology claimed that she died from an accidental drug overdose, but the L.A. County Coroner's Office claimed that she died from embolism. It was later ruled that her death was caused by an accidental drug overdose.
