I just looked over the Essentials history list, and I only spotted four silent movies on the whole thing. City Lights, Modern Times, Sunrise, and Metropolis this year. There could be more that I overlooked, but I had no idea there were so few. Essentials Jr. has had more! (mostly Keaton)

Battleship Potemkin, The Passion of Joan of Ark, The Crowd, The General, and The Phantom of the Opera are a few of the more obvious choices. There are plenty. And here I thought they needed more foreign films. Oh well, I never really understood this program anyway.

"Wings" is an Essential. "Birth of a Nation"...the subject matter of "BOAN" is horrible, but it is an Essential. "City Lights". "Sunrise". "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari". Among many others.

Please make sure that silent films are part of the Essentials.
