The official 31 Days of Oscar website is now up and running, with a handy PDF available for download. This not only outlines the primetime schedule which I have outlined, but also the daytime schedule and themes. Just go to http://31days.tcm.com/ and follow the links.

I think I'm going to like this year's format.

Yes, I think this year's format is excellent.

I don't give a lot of weight to the Oscars themselves, but I like many of the movies aired on TCM during their 31 Days salute.

I'm especially looking forward to RUNNING ON EMPTY, which I first saw when I was kid.

I remember being surprised at the time that River Phoenix was nomnated for a Best Supporting Actor Oscar when he had the most screen time of any actor in the movie.

(Of course, Tatum O'Neal won a Supporting Actress Oscar for PAPER MOON when in fact she had a leading role in that movie. The same thing happened with Jennifer Hudson in DREAMGIRLS.)

Nice job on that, Barton. Very useful, considering it's primetime that most viewers are actually ready to sit down and watch.

It's very interesting how this year TCM has scheduled the gradual, day by day, change in movie era - from the late 20's - early 30's on Day 1 to the 2010's on day 31. And very consistent. Those who only want "studio era" should be quite happy for the first 18 days, but then not so much the rest of the way. Those who have seen the studio era stuff more than enough by now can take the first couple of weeks to catch up on their reading and then banquet on the serving of new age for a couple of weeks.

I think I'm going to like this year's format.

I may live badly but at least I don't have to work to do it.
