As much as I love Magnani, I found the story just a little preposterous.

I suppose it is not a film for all tastes-- but those that are willing to stay with it will be richly rewarded at the end.

TCM aired this beautifully made Jean Renoir production in the wee hours of the morning today. Anna Magnani is exquisite as always. She plays a character torn between three men and a golden coach. 

 

The romantic themes in the film are grandly (and subtly) portrayed. Highly recommended.
