isn't this the anniversary of D-Day? no war movies.

I like The Man From Planrt X with the scottish moor and the fog and that bathysphere missile thing and the alien in the cryo-suit. margaret field is the flying nun's mother.

Speaking of D-Day, there's a Robert Taylor film (made at Fox) that has never aired on TCM-- D-DAY THE SIXTH OF JUNE. It did not air even when Taylor was Star of the Month. It was made by the studio a few years before THE LONGEST DAY.

Maybe next year on TCM..?

TIGER SHARK looks interesting from what I read on the TCM web site.  Early Edward G. Robinson (1932, as you know, of course).  I did catch a few moments of THE BIG SKY and I thought the same thing about color (but I wouldn't want to see it "colorized").

Yes, colorizing would not work. It should have been in the original Technicolor. On the wiki page for THE BIG SKY, the running time is listed as 122 minutes. But I think there's a reconstructed, longer version TCM airs.

Yes, he certainly was a versatile director. I've never seen TIGER SHARK. I think THE BIG SKY is a great if not slightly overlong motion picture. Though it should have been filmed in Technicolor.

Great day for Howard Hawks flicks!  This guy could direct anything.  I can't believe he never won an Oscar.  I caught the last half of THE THING, one of my ultimate horror/SF favorites  (I'm beyond counting how many times I've seen it and I know Nyby directed it but it has those Hawksian influences) and recorded TIGER SHARK for future viewing.  The other selections I've seen several times, except for THE BIG SKY.  Talk about being versatile.
