In a old American movie there was, all I can remember was a huge possible Russian opera set with a female actress in full totality dress with her heart breaking singing the scene. She in the scene was going back to die or could not have her lover and had to go back to Russia. To rule? This is the only scene I remember and it was either the end or close to the end of the movie.

I wonder if it could be from the movie the great waltz with Louise Rainer?

Would anyone have an answer?

Yes, it does sound like THE GREAT WALTZ to me.

Of course, ANNA KARENINA has similar themes.

"The truth? What good is the truth if it destroys us all..?" -- Mady Christians in ALL MY SONS (1948).
