The films of 1935 mentioned on this thread that I have yet to see:
Escape Ne Never
La Kermesse Heroique (Carnival in Flanders)
If You Could Only Cook
No More Ladies
1935 films that are vague memories:
Goin' to Town
Special Mention: Actor of the Year
This is a different category from Best Actor, in my opinion, since that is just dealing with a single performance. In the case of Laughton, though, his three 1935 films and performances were all so remarkable that I think he deserves this special accolade.
Not only was it a year in which he gave, in my opinion, two of the year's strongest dramatic performances in Mutiny on the Bounty and Les Miserables, but he also demonstrated his range even further by his delightful comedy turn in Ruggles of Red Gap.
Laughton had the best run of films in his career throughout the 1930s, but 1935 stands out, in my opinion, as a particularly memorable year for this English acting giant.
