This is unusual because I was watching a program last night which discussed this issue in reality and in the movies. Ida Lupino had polio when she was a 16 year-old Starlet in Hollywood. I don't know if this is a well-known fact or not. She went on to become a groundbreaking pioneer actress turned director in the 1950s, making movies and directing TV series. Her films were of special interest about topics concerning women, which were usually taboo at that time. In one film starring dancer Sally Forrest, Ida Lupino explores the autobiographical issue of how an artistic entertainment career can come to an end when it's attacked by polio. The movie is " Never Fear", 1950, directed by Ida Lupino and co-written with her second husband Collier Young. Co-starring in the movie are Keeefe Brasselle and Hugh O'Brian

  11. Some guy made a Youtube article on the 15 most racist films of all time (which I recently watched because of the discussion we had on blackface in films), and this was one of them. Walt Disney a racist? C'mon. The black actor James Baskett, who played Uncle Remus, was given an honorary Oscar for the warmth he brought to the role. Stereotyping isn't always racist, or sexist. It can be an accurate portrayal. I'm not saying this film is or isn't (no, I haven't seen it), but when speaking of racism you need to consider intent. Sometimes claims of racism, using today's politically correct values, go too far.

We need International Observers, International Advocates for children from the United Nations Human Rights Council, UNICEF, The Red Cross, Amnesty International and/or Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) On the Border and at these immigration centers to demand that all the migrants-- with special attention to the forced abandoned children-- are treated properly. The trump administration has created an International Refugee Crisis that did not have to occur. If they refuse to humanely treat these human beings-- these International refugees-- then international law and international organizations should step in and see that it's handled properly, according to international law.

  25. The first thing I noticed about how the four characters included one another was the color scheme for their clothing. They are paired off and have coordinating outfits which visually at least for me is pleasing as well as telling me that they are part of something together somehow. The married couple are wearing grey, all the men are wearing something with a shade of blue in it, and to make the solo female counterpart stand out just a little bit they place a dash of red onto her dress. I also noticed how they casually touch one another, keep themselves physically close to one another, and face each other when they are singing often. I noticed that the staging and interplay between the characters was to show a unity with their passion for song and dance. It was also incredibly playful and very refreshing to see especially with Fred Astaire. Such a fun and truly entertaining performance by these four talented actors.

Interrupted Melody (1955) Eleanor Parker contracts polio. And then Lionel Barrymore, due to his real-life health is always in a wheelchair in his films from about 1939 on Mildred Dunnock had that infamous scene in Kiss of Death (1947) and I gather that a 1969 film called Eye of the Cat put a teetering wheelchair inhabited by Eleanor Parker atop a steep hill.... But the 1962 film The Notorious Landlady also had a similar scene with Kim Novak and Jack Lemmon racing to save the poor woman. many of the other films that could fit in here are newer films like Whose Life Is It Anyway? (1981), Gaby:A True Story (1987), Million Dollar Baby (2004), Rory O'Shea Was Here (2004),The Sea Inside (2004), and The Diving Bell and the Butterfly (2007)
