    Deanna Durbin

Reading the letter that Deanna wrote to a fan in the 1990s, I have to ask what she was referring to when she mentioned SPRING PARADE. Was that film lost for awhile? Was it something that had never aired on television?
  3. One of the great musical scores for any costume film, alternately bombastic, romantic and poignant. Max Steiner really was a genius for the mood of a scene. ADVENTURES OF DON JUAN:

No reasons are ever given why the films were pulled either.
  8. Victor Young's lovely, lyrical score for SHANE brings images for me of wide open vistas and rugged mountain peaks in the distance. The sensitivity found in this western is magnificently reflected by Young's strings accompaniment.

    Robert Mueller submits Russia report

Congress should get the full unredacted report, Twump's tax returns, etc., etc., subpoena and investigate, investigate, investigate, and then impeach Twump. Make the findings as much a part of the daily news cycle as possible for the next 20 months. Then spend the rest of the time leading up to the 2020 campaign making Republican Senators defend their discoveries about Twump. I'd watch them squirm, lol.

CNN‏Verified account@CNN "There's absolutely no question that this has been a vast Presidential cover up," says legendary Watergate journalist @carlbernstein. "We have in Mueller's report a narrative, a timeline narrative, of the cover up by the President and his actions."

    Secret Agent/Spy Films

On the sillier side, there were two Thunderbirds films in 1968, based on a popular TV series done in "Supermarionation": Thunderbird 6 and Thunderbirds Are Go! They feature the five sons of a former astronaut who act as international "rescue" agents, assisted by British agent Lady Penelope in her flying pink Rolls. Lots of really stupid fun. The more recent Team America: World Police (2004) used roughly the same process with puppets, but with a decidedly more adult point of view.

    Robert Mueller submits Russia report

The second and previously unreported instance of Trump's campaign officials meeting with agents of the Russian Government has been totally redacted in the report. This may be an ongoing investigation for all we know and Mueller has just done his bit.

    Trump's Biggest Whoppers

You can read the Mueller report here. The Index itself is impressive! The amount of contacts with Russians is staggering. And a second previously unknown Trump campaign meeting with agents of the Russian Government has been totally redacted. My guess is that when Mueller testifies he will elaborate on why he did not bring criminal conspiracy charges but will paint a very ugly picture of the Trump campaign's activities.

    I Just Watched...

"Pauline at the Beach" - Eric Rohmer - 1983 - starring Amanda Langlet (Pauline), Arielle Dombasie (Marion), Pascal Greggory (Pierre), Feodor Atkine (Henri), Simon de la Brosse (Sylvain), Rosette (Louisette) - this film was the third in Rohmer's famed 6-film cycle, "Comedies and Proverbs" - it illustrates the proverb that people who talk themselves to death do themselves a disservice - Pauline and her cousin Marion go to the beach and get involved - with men - Marion meets an old lover, Pierre, but she doesn't want a second chance with him - she hooks up with an aging playboy, Henri, who is more to her liking - Pauline seems interested in Sylvain, but he proves elusive - meanwhile, a girl who sells candy at the beach, Louisette, proves a complication with all of them - did she sleep with Henri? - it looks that way - but Pauline is led to believe that she slept with Sylvain - the amusing thing about this film is that nobody can stop talking about IT - that is, their attraction to the opposite sex - maybe if they stopped wagging their tongues - and became more involved with their feelings - things might have sorted themselves out - or perhaps - not have sex in the first place - in this film, sex becomes a mystery - in the end, Pauline believes that Sylvain slept with Louisette - and Marion believes that Henri slept with Louisette - so, everyone feels somewhat - cheated - and not too happy - hey, what is wrong with going to the beach and reading a book? -
