EDITORIAL: Andrew Scheer for prime minister

In Canada, conservatives are not that far apart on most social issues - certainly not abortion. And I very much doubt they are into reversing liberties like marijuana. You have to look at their policies on taxes which means reductions on social services and the elimination of environmental protections if you want to see the real differences in the parties. And for me that eliminates the conservatives for consideration. Judging by your post if you were living in Canada you might lean liberal as well.

    TCM Hosts

I will turn 70 next year and I am really feeling my age when I see all the young hosts on TCM. They all have great credentials but I miss the older folks who have been in the business for many years. Are there any Baby Boomers that would be good hosts? We are losing so many of the older folks I really miss them and their experience.
  4. I think there have been three Republic films shown during 31 Days: The Quiet Man, Sands of Iwo Jima and Moonrise. But one of my dislikes is definitely a lack of diversity among studio representation. I've always been a supporter of 31 Days, which was the whole reason I started watching TCM. i'm pretty list-y and detail and minutiae-oriented and have been sort of obsessed with the Oscars since young childhood. I think at one time I thought I really needed to see every Best Picture nominee or at least winner, and such a format certainly seemed at the time like a good way to do that, before I knew the limitations of TCM programming. Sometimes I'll look back at a year's nominees and figure out which ones I haven't seen and wistfully hope they'll turn up on TCM someday. A minor dislike is the organizational scheme. They've pretty much done it every way they can, I think. They've done A-Z and 360 degrees at least twice each. When I was first watching, the daytime programming was themeless, I think, while the nighttime programming was organized around different themes. I believe that's how they did it this year. I don't think it's a realistic hope that they would just do 31 Days at night. It seems to be a point of pride with them that the entire 31 days be filled with winners and nominees. I do like the introduction of some newer films that seem to occur primarily during this month. It's never been a lot, but it really seems to have whittled down to just a handful the last couple of years. Anyway, I'm still a supporter of the format, though I know it's been much meh'd on these boards. I eagerly await the posting of the new lineup every year (which should be soon, right?). I'd really like to have a lineup for every year. Most of my online searches have been frustrating, though I did find 2007 and 2009, I think.
