This is Ingrid Berman and Leonard Nimoy at their best. Young Golda spends her life inspired by the words of a Jewish sage. She takes these words to heart, and makes them the driving force for her life. She is stubborn, intelligent, and very human.

I saw this movie about ten years ago (rented it from a video store back when they still had "videos") it is a great film and a great performance by I. Bergman. Your posting was the first I had heard that it is being released on DVD thank you. I will be looking for it!

I'm so excited that: A Woman Called Golda with Ingrid Bergman as Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir. & now it is on DVD....... I have waited years to see this film. I saw the stage play a couple years back and it was wonderful.

I just got my rental copy of: A Woman Called Golda (1982) I can't wait to watch it!

The film marked the end of Ingrid Bergman's career. She died four months after its release.

This made-for-TV biopic stars Emmy winner Ingrid Bergman as Golda Meir, a Russian-born Jew raised in Wisconsin who served as prime minister of Israel from 1969-74 -- one of the most turbulent periods in the country's history. Often called the Iron Lady of Israel, the fiercely determined Meir led the nation through the 1973 Yom Kippur War and the massacre of 11 Israeli athletes and coaches at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, Germany

The film received seven Emmy nominations and won three awards, including:
The Outstanding Drama Special & Outstanding Lead Actress for Ingrid Bergman.


The film was also nominated for two Golden Globes and won the award for Best Performance by an Actress for Ingrid Bergman.
