  2. Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump As I have stated strongly before, and just to reiterate, if Turkey does anything that I, in my great and unmatched wisdom, consider to be off limits, I will totally destroy and obliterate the Economy of Turkey (I’ve done before!). They must, with Europe and others, watch over... ....the captured ISIS fighters and families. The U.S. has done far more than anyone could have ever expected, including the capture of 100% of the ISIS Caliphate. It is time now for others in the region, some of great wealth, to protect their own territory. THE USA IS GREAT!

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump Susan Rice, who was a disaster to President Obama as National Security Advisor, is now telling us her opinion on what to do in Syria. Remember RED LINE IN THE SAND? That was Obama. Millions killed! No thanks Susan, you were a disaster. ================================ Susan Rice @AmbassadorRice · 19h Then why did you come up and hug me at 2015 WHCD when I’d never met you (which was totally gross) and whisper in my ear that I had been “very unfairly treated” over Benghazi and “was doing a great job for the country”?

Screenplay by John Dighton, Angus MacPhail, and Diana Morgan from a Graham Greene story. And remember: this story, told as a flashback at the end of WW2, was actually made at its peak, when the outcome was far from certain." Article here:

  9. Anybody understand what's happening here??....... China Warns Hong Kong Violence Will 'Be Severely Punished' As U.S. Navy Tries to Visit "....Hong Kong's protests began earlier this year in response to a proposed bill that would allow residents accused of a crime in the special administrative region to be extradited to other parts of China to face trial. While Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam has since agreed to suspend the bill, protesters have demanded it be scrapped entirely and have called for resignation as well as looser election laws, more government accountability and overall greater distance from Beijing, which claimed sovereignty over the city as part of a "one country, two systems" framework following a handover from its colonizer, the United Kingdom, in 1997... John Harwood @JohnJHarwood Pelosi says this photo came as she told President Trump, “all roads with you lead to Putin” notice the expression on Kevin McCarthy’s face three years ago, McCarthy told his GOP colleagues privately: “There’s two people I think Putin pays: Rohrabacher and Trump. Swear to God.” after McCarthy linked Trump and Putin in that June 2016 meeting, Pelosi’s predecessor, then-Speaker Paul Ryan, told fellow Republicans present not to disclose it to anyone else. “No leaks,” Ryan said. “This is how we know we’re a real family here.”

Trump vs Turkey & Kurdish allies....

Erdoğan got the best of Trump "........Trump lost his leverage to negotiate with both the Turks and the Kurds after the withdrawal and then the letter. “In buttoning your shirt, if you start out wrong, it’ll be wrong at the end,” Aliriza said. “They’re denying it strenuously within the administration, but everything that happened, happened because of the phone call on the 6th.”..... "The so-called cease-fire is not what we expected. In fact, it’s not a cease-fire, it’s a demand of capitulation of the Kurds,” he said. According to a fact sheet given to reporters in Ankara, the so-called “safe zone” from which the YPG is expected to evacuate will be “primarily enforced” by Turkish forces. Defense Secretary Mark Esper confirmed to reporters Friday that U.S. forces would not be involved in enforcing the safe zone. That means, critics say, Erdoğan won what he wanted all along...... Turkish officials were reportedly surprised at the ease with which the United States agreed to the deal. “We got everything we wanted,” ..... And while the administration is arguing the cease-fire stops the bloodshed, Edelman warned that it doesn’t address “the issue of how do we repair the damage that had been done.”

  16. Giuliani: State Department official should 'step forward,' 'I wasn't operating on my own' President Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani on Thursday called on Kurt Volker, the U.S. special representative to Ukraine, and other State Department officials to say that they directed Giuliani to meet with Ukrainian officials in the wake of a whistleblower complaint released Thursday on Trump and Giuliani’s contacts with Ukraine. Giuliani appeared to share text messages from Volker in an appearance on Fox News Thursday night. One encouraged Giuliani to call him to “brief you more about [Ukrainian President Volodymyr] Zelensky dynamic,” and another “connected” Giuliani with Andriy Yermak, a Zelensky aide. “He should step forward and explain what he did,” Giuliani told Fox News host Laura Ingraham. “The whistleblower falsely alleges that I was operating on my own. Well, I wasn’t operating on my own.” “I went to meet Mr. Zelensky’s aide at the request of the State Department,” Giuliani continued. He said Volker requested that he meet with Yermak just days before the July 25 call between Trump and Zelensky,......

-just ANOTHER Trumpist with imaginary supporters......... White House Adviser Peter Navarro Calls Fictional Alter Ego An 'Inside Joke' ...... The character Ron Vara appears in Navarro's 2011 book, Death By China, offering dire warnings about Chinese imports. "Only the Chinese can turn a leather sofa into an acid bath, a baby crib into a lethal weapon, and a cellphone battery into heart-piercing shrapnel," Vara is quoted as saying. But while the book is not supposed to be fiction, Vara is a made-up character. "Ron Vara is an anagram of Navarro," said Tom Bartlett, a journalist who exposed the ruse in the Chronicle of Higher Education. Vara appears in half a dozen of Navarro's books, dating to 2001. Navarro, who directs the White House Office of Trade and Manufacturing Policy, defended the fabrication as a "whimsical device."...... ....the joke wears very thin when you get to certain statements about China and the Chinese people that are quite negative," Bartlett said. "Ron Vara says things that are pretty over the top, and it's hard to construe them necessarily as whimsical in the way we normally use that word." ........

    GODZILLA, King of the Kaiju....

  19. The King of the Monsters "I n early August of 1945, the United States dropped two atomic bombs on the people of Japan in the span of just three days, effectively ending World War II in the Pacific shortly after it had ended in Europe months before. It is believed that the allied forces may have saved countless lives on both sides by dropping the bombs instead of engaging in a ground invasion that was to be known as “Operation Downfall” that some have estimated could have ended up making D-Day look like a walk in the park. But the bombs left two Japanese cities devastated economically and structurally, innocent civilians in the hundreds of thousands were killed in the process, and radiation poisoning caused the aftermath to last much longer than just those two brief moments of destruction. A country built on honor and self-sacrifice found itself having to admit defeat or face more devastation; they chose the former. ......... (Tanaka) happened to pass by the very waters that the Lucky Dragon No. 5 had been exposed to radiation in. It brought back the news of the incident into his mind, and he suddenly came up with the idea of going for a creature feature instead, inspired by American b-movie classic The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms, in which a giant monster would rise from the depths awaken by nuclear testing. ..... After realizing that stop motion animation would be too costly and time-consuming, the defining effect – that Godzilla was portrayed by a man in a large monster suit – was used instead. The creature’s roar, one of cinema’s most well-known sound effects, was created by legendary Japanese composer Akira Ifukube when he found a way to use the sound of a leather glove moving against the strings of a double bass. The film itself is a masterpiece. It features a dramatic weight that the franchise would not come to be widely known for, with scenes of destruction that don’t spare anyone – ..... The Godzilla franchise has been coming out with films through twelve presidencies, almost all of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign, almost thirty Japanese Prime Ministers, and three Japanese eras and Emperors. This month, Godzilla: King Of The Monsters will be the thirty-fifth film in which he is featured — and that’s if you don’t count two Americanized versions of two of his films ........ By the mid-seventies, Godzilla had been on film for two decades, but his popularity was waning. He went from a dramatic analogy of Japan’s tragic past to a drive-in theatre B monster to a children’s superhero to a bit of a laughingstock. So, for nearly a decade Godzilla vanished from the movie screens. It was time for him to take up a new role and wear another new mask…..

    Democratic Debate

Clinton says Russia is grooming Gabbard to be a third-party candidate Gabbard fired back on Twitter, calling the 2016 Democratic presidential nominee the "queen of the warmongers." .........“I’m not making any predictions, but I think they’ve got their eye on somebody who’s currently in the Democratic primary and they’re grooming her to be the third-party candidate,” Clinton said in an interview for Plouffe’s Campaign HQ podcast. “She’s the favorite of the Russians. They have a bunch of sites and bots and other ways of supporting her so far and that’s assuming Jill Stein will give it up because she’s also a Russian asset.” Clinton spokesman Nick Merrill confirmed that the former secretary of state was referring to Gabbard...... Gabbard, who has previously said she would not run as a third-party candidate, fired back on Twitter. "Thank you @HillaryClinton," Gabbard tweeted. "You, the queen of warmongers, embodiment of corruption, and personification of the rot that has sickened the Democratic Party for so long, have finally come out from behind the curtain. From the day I announced my candidacy, there has been a concerted campaign to destroy my reputation. We wondered who was behind it and why. Now we know — it was always you, through your proxies and powerful allies in the corporate media and war machine, afraid of the threat I pose."....... Gabbard is frequently mentioned in Russian propaganda and media, including by RT, the news agency backed by the Kremlin, and she has been criticized for foreign policy views that some say are aligned too closely with Russia and other foreign adversaries of the United States — especially her views on Syria and Syrian President Bashar Assad. ........

Trump vs Turkey & Kurdish allies....

Amid scattered fighting, Erdogan threatens to restart Syria operation .....Trump said Erdogan told him there had been "minor sniper and mortar fire" in the region "that was quickly eliminated" and the Turkish leader assured him in a call that "he very much wants the ceasefire, or pause, to work." Mustefa Bali, a spokesman for the Kurdish Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), accused Turkey, however, of violating the ceasefire deal reached during a visit to Ankara on Thursday by US Vice President Mike Pence. "Despite the agreement to halt the fighting, air and artillery attacks continue to target the positions of fighters, civilian settlements and the hospital" in the border town of Ras al-Ain in northeastern Syria, he said...... "General Mazloum is concerned about the ceasefire holding and was emphatic that he will never agree to the ethnic cleansing of Kurds that is being proposed in Ankara," Graham said. "A buffer zone is acceptable to the Kurds but a military occupation that displaces hundreds of thousands is not a safe zone," Graham said. "It is ethnic cleansing."...
  24. Peter Nicholas @PeterAtlantic · 56m Trump has been polling associates about whether to part ways with WH Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney. But Trump might be channeling his inner LBJ. It's riskier to have Mulvaney outside the tent "**** in," than the opposite. w/ @elainaplott Why Firing Mick Mulvaney Is Riskier Than Keeping Him President Trump’s third chief of staff seemed destined for the door until impeachment came along. "....people have been urging Trump to hold his acting chief in place, telling him that the risk of an aggrieved ex-official on the outside far outweighs any annoyances Trump may have with him. As President Lyndon Johnson famously said about then–FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover, it’s better to keep him inside the tent “**** out” than the opposite. “The president always fears that people he either gets rid of or resigns will turn out to be a press liability,” one person close to the White House told us. “But, look, if you treat people like crap, you shouldn’t expect loyalty.” ..... by keeping Mulvaney in place, Trump can make a stronger case that Mulvaney is immune from having to testify about conversations with the president. “It becomes more difficult to control those who are no longer part of the executive branch,” ......
