  1. Are there not enough Noir films that prevents Noir Alley from being on every Sunday?

I have grown accustomed to making it part of my Sunday at 10 am and there are sometimes weeks where it is not aired.

Even if it can't be hosted every week can we at least watch a Noir film Sundays at 10am?

  2. I love Noir Alley and some of the sci fi films that I have seen on TCM.

Would a "bad cinema" night work?

Maybe just one film a week but not so horrible a film that no one would want to watch it.

A film like Robot Monster, Beast With a Million Eyes, Billy the Kid Meets Dracula and some 50's and 60's weird films.

Some of these films do show up occasionally on TCM but I consider Bad Cinema as an art in its own right.

It has to be a bad film but not hideously awful. It would need to have some value as a cult film or so rare that we have heard about it but never seen it before.

  3. As you can see the email section is grayed out and it will not accept the password either. I am here now in Firefox. If I am not good enough to help in the help section than maybe I should move on. I realize there have been updates but it only takes a few minutes to look in the help section. Maybe I sound angry but I think any of you would be frustrated receiving this pop-up every time you try to log in with Chrome.

  4. I am getting this message:

I haven't done anything bad to be blocked from the message boards. It could be my terrible sense of humor but people here wouldn't know about my bad puns. And Chrome does not work at all with TCM in general. Maybe because I have a Mac? I am getting an erroneous logon screen with grayed out fields in the Chrome browser. Maybe the problem here is that the site itself is very complex and there are many users who are accessing the site at the same time. I should try at 4 am to see if it is better.

It would help "us" to be more "patient" and "understanding" if  "someone" at TCM "shared" with us more about these frequent issues when they occurred. AND would respond to us when "we" notice and post about them.

It might be a step in a positive direction for you to pin this thread, so that you, as a TCMModerator can better act as a liaison between an otherwise unresponsive TCM and "we," otherwise loyal but left-in-the-dark, subscribers to TCM and their consistently unreliable ON-DEMAND product.

    Maybe if someone actually cared.

  6. I find it a little difficult to understand with the strong Austrian, German and Russian accents. Maybe this makes it slow for some people, it requires a lot of concentration. The Zither music really slows it down in my opinion. Maybe a Zither with an Orchestra would have given a fuller sound. Depending on where the copy is printed some copies are very grainy. I like the movie and have it on video and will still watch it on TCM.

  7. Was the Mid-Atlantic, Transatlantic accent used mainly in the early talking pictures? At some point in time it disappeared from most films but in the 30's it seemed that most actresses and a few actors acquired the accent. Were these people from the theater? When did the accent phase out?

  8. Did Lambert ever have a role where he was a normal person and not a sadistic killer?

I have seen him in westerns too but always a shady character.

He was not leading man material for sure, but I thought he was a decent actor.

Some Noir villains are typecast forever, no matter how hard they try to escape.

  9. I am unable to access the Watch TCM site because I receive the message "This is the first time you have logged on through a social network" my incorrect email address is grayed out and I cannot update it. I am stuck on this one screen. I even tried to disable any ad blockers that were enabled. Is this a new thing? I saw some problems in March of this year but this just started with me. I have never tried to log on TCM through any social network. What gives?

  10. I think it was Decades showing a Man From Uncle Marathon last night. I was glued to my television set for over 4 hours. And compared to MeTV, Decades shows fewer commercials, having mostly 2 minute commercial breaks. And for the most part, the network would take a station break based on the breaks in the program. I hope Decades can stay this good and not resort to those 5 and 6 minute breaks like AMC and TV Land. The local channel also inserts commercials which affects the continuity of the program.

  11. I agree with a lot of what you are saying but for me I am going to watch these Noir movies on TCM or a movie channel. If I want it any more graphic I can purchase the video. A lot of things in the two movies being discussed may not be clear to most but I hove read both books also. To me Chandler can be a tough read because of his word usage and ancient expressions. Put a ribbon on it is one of the strangest to me. But is was so well written into the script that I can see Powell saying it. Chandler was older than all of my grandparents (my oldest grandfather being born in 1892). It's interesting in a way to try to figure out his slang.
