    Pre-Code Gallery

It was with regret that I pulled the plug on the last Pre-Code Gallery so here's a place to post those wonderful pre-code pics! I don't plan on my same level of participation as last time so everyone feel free to post your pics. Let's try to keep them from the Pre-Code era and avoid watermarks and screencaps, please. Snorkie

Just listening to a little Rimsky-Korsakov earlier... "Flight of the Bumblebee", performed by Al Hirt; a local TV station had a Green Hornet marathon today. : )

Hi, welcome to the boards! I love pre-codes too, however a complete lack of moderation on this thread from pernicious and persistent trolling combined with new rules limiting resolution size should provide some insight how welcome this thread was here. I'm sure you'll find plenty of good conversation on the forums though. Thanks, Jeff

Loaned my Demi Lovato - Don't Forget CD to a girl at work recently. Her sons heard it and asked, "Mom, where did you get that"?? The last song on the deluxe edition is "Lo Que Soy" (This Is Me), and her one boy was so excited - "Wait 'til I tell my friends at school - she sings in Spanish, too"! Youth's enthusiasm! : ) Demi has that in abundance and if I may quote one Amazon reviewer, "With her extremely mature debut album, Demi Lovato has exemplified that talent runs in all ages". Singing is just one her many strong suits and she sounds as at home doing it in Spanish as she does in English! Haven't been into real much Spanish music over the years but I did see Gloria Estefan in concert back when she was at the height of her popularity. Another very charismatic performer! A big fan of India back in the early 90's I thought she might become the Latin "Madonna". Her now somewhat rare solo album, Breaking Night, features songs produced by Jellybean Benitez and Little Louie Vega. "Dancing On The Fire", "The Lover Who Rocks You All Night" and "Right From The Start" were some of the songs receiving radio play. Some sweet music but her last English project. : ( Well, she never did become the "Latin Madonna" but she's now considered the "Queen of Salsa" south of the border! A more recent recommendation I can make is Belinda's 2006 crossover album, Utopia, which also includes a couple songs in English. Another seasoned young performer, the now 20 year-old Belinda Peregrin starred in her first Mexican TV series at age 10, debuted her first album at age 14 to runaway popularity and continues a strong acting career. Cheetah Girls 2 is her only American film to date, btw. ...Recorded in Los Angeles, Utopia contains 13 pop songs produced and composed by some of the best of their kind in the industry; including Kara DioGuardi (Kelly Clarkson and Gwen Stefani), Jimmy Harry (Kylie Minogue and Britney Spears), Doc McKeeny (RES), Greg Kursten (Lily Allen and Pink), Lester M?ndez (Santana and Shakira), and Greg Wells (Celine Dion and Elton John). http://www.popgeneration.com/zone/popgen/team.php?team_id=215 Great music speaks in any language!

    > {quote:title=filmlover wrote:}{quote} > This is a day for classic TV news, and now the announcement of *The Judy Garland Show vol.* 1 on DVD. However, this one comes up a bit skimpy as it only has two episodes. It will street on July 28th from Infinity. There will be twelve more volumes eventually completing the 26-show run. The show's already been available on DVD for the past ten years.

Just found out Demi has a new album out later this month! The aptly titled, "Here We Go Again" also includes the Sonny With A Chance theme song, "So Far So Great". The Snork's not waiting for the deluxe edition to purchase this one. : )

Happy to report those craving more Demi Lovato can pick up the Disney CD, Disney Channel Playlist, containing two new songs by her including the Sonny with a Chance theme song, "So Far So Great", which follows in the China Forbes - Ordinary Girl tradition by delivering a bit more than the short clip used for broadcast. Selena Gomez also sings two songs including the theme to her show. Message was edited by: Snorky

My latest two-song soundtrack take is from Another Cinderella Story with *Selena Gomez*: 1. *Selena Gomez* - Tell Me Something I Don't Know 2. *Tiffany Giardin* - Hurry Up and Save Me Selena joined best friend *Demi Lovato* on this last week's Sonny With A Chance. A great send-up of their own characters and other Disney shows when they change places mocking each other. It's obvious they're having a blast working together! In another scene Selena's finally had enough and exclaims, "I don't need this; I was in "Camp Hip-Hop""! Selena and Demi's character, Sonny, are at each others' throats up 'til then but as soon as Selena leaves Demi smiles and says sweetly, "Aww, she seems nice. Maybe I should call her." Chad: Why? Ya gonna become BFFs with Selena Gomez? Sonny: It could happen! The show wraps up with Selena doing a "Camp Hip-Hop" spoof. It's part of the run-up to Disney's release of Princess Protection Program, a movie starring *Demi Lovato* and *Selena Gomez*. Message was edited by: Snorky

It occurs to me that people might like to know what they're clicking on. Maybe you could just say, "Here's a Staple Singers video", or whatever. Just trying to be helpful here.

Another bright young star with plenty of acting and musical talent is *Demi Lovato*. Her new album, Don't Forget, is decidedly more rocking than the music I mentioned in my last post. I went ahead and bought the deluxe edition when it came out recently - it has a couple extra songs and a short DVD which I have yet to watch. She also stars in the new Disney series, *Sonny with a Chance*, a truly funny and well-written sitcom and my favorite new show. I sent out this youtube link a while back and received more responses to that one e-mail than anything else I recall lately. Guaranteed to make you feel patriotic no matter what side of the political spectrum you're on; it's *Demi Lovato* singing the National Anthem at last Thanksgiving's Cowboys vs. Seahawks game: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PIv1YM7XL0c

Hi! Thought I'd share some sweet-sounding soundtrack music I've been collecting lately. I believe one Amazon review or reviewer called the "Clueless" TV theme, Ordinary Girl (1996), by *China Forbes* a "sugary pop confection". (The rare single from '96 can usually be found for sale online). Some other newer soundtracks, mostly Disney, follow in that genre. Anyhow, I've been picking out just two or three songs from each movie to make an EP or mini-album. It all began with Aquamarine co-starring *Emma Roberts.* She does a song called "Island in the Sun". Pure escapism. The song wouldn't leave me alone the next day so I had to get the soundtrack. Her voice is so clear and fresh! She's only done one other soundtrack song which led me to yet another soundtrack. Would like to hear more from this young rising star! (I've sampled her "Unfabulous" TV soundtrack and sorry to say there's nothing worthwhile there - but everyone has to start somewhere). *Caleigh Peters* has but three soundtrack songs and one movie led me to another with those too. Her music video, "Reach", is included as a bonus feature on Disney's Ice Princess DVD, BTW. As with "Reach" several of these songs contain positive, inspiring messages - believe in one's self and what's right, overcome obstacles, always give your all and don't let anyone make you doubt. Since Aquamarine I've found a few other soundtracks with two or three exceptional songs each. Emma's still the best, though! *Aquamarine* Soundtrack 1. Cheyenne Kimball - One Original Thing 2. Emma Roberts - Island in the Sun *Ice Princess* Soundtrack 1. Emma Roberts - If I Had It My Way 2. Caleigh Peters - Reach *Go Figure* Soundtrack (Disney Channel movie) 1. Cadence Grace - Crash Goes My World 2. Caleigh Peters - I Can Do Anything 3. Everlife - Go Figure (The rockin' title track from girl-group, Everlife) The latest one I've discovered is a little more rockin': *Herbie Fully Loaded* Soundtrack 1. Caleigh Peters - Fun, Fun, Fun 2. Aly & AJ - Walking on Sunshine I personally guarantee these songs to cheer one's day. ; ) Message was edited by: Snorky
