    missing scenes from movies

I haven't seen that scene either however it would make sense if there was a scene like that because at the end of the movie Tom Drake's character says to Judy's something like "I liked it better when it was a swamp and there was just the two of us" and I've never understood that line.

    Movies within movies

Hi FrankGrimes - I apologize for "Sabotage"-ing your question as we have not been properly introduced but I noticed no one answered your question of what movie the cartoon was from so I wanted to speak up. It is one of my favorite Hitchcock movies!

You're Sick. Which Movie Do You Want?

Definitely have to choose "It Happened One Night". Love Mr. Gable in this one and I know he would make me feel better!

    Cary Grant

I love to watch Cary Grant. He is one of my favorites too!! A true gentleman. I am surprised to see quite a few movies mentioned here that I haven't seen! I definitely will put them on my netflix. It's hard for me to pick one favorite movie of his but some of my tops are: His Girl Friday An Affair to Remember The Philadelphia Story To Catch a Thief Bringing Up Baby I have Penny Serenade next on my list to watch.
  6. I am sorry if this question has been asked and answered before but I have looked around and didn't see it posted on previous pages. I am wondering if it is possible to view past introductions by Robert Osborne - specifically the one he did on Lord of the Rings. I didn't watch the movie so therefore I forgot to tune in to hear what he had to say about it. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

How do you watch your movies ?

I love to sit on my couch with a blanket, light my candles and have a glass (or 2 ) of wine while watching a movie. I love to just get lost in the film and forget about the real world for a couple of hours. I'm really looking forward to keeping my New Year's resolution by watching Beau Brummel tonight! through the cigarette smoke...

I agree - it is tragic that people didn't know the dangers of cigarettes back then or how addictive they could be. Unfortunately that is part of what drew me to old movies in the first place - smoking looked so glamourous to me. I know better now - I kicked the habit after 20 + years of smoking. The cravings still come but they get fewer and farther between (thank goodness). My grandma had to quit to use an oxygen machine due to emphysema, but if her doctor would have let her, she'd have smoked a cigarette with her dying breath too. Sad.....

    Johnny Depp YEAH or NAY

I say yeah for Johnny Depp!! I agree that he brings his characters to life. I enjoy watching him in anything but a couple of my favorites were Chocolat and Finding Neverland. I love all the pirate movies as well.
  11. Hi JackFavell - I like a lot of different movies but I guess musicals would be my favorite. I am a big fan of Judy Garland. I also like mystery/detective movies - Alfred Hitchcock and The Thin Man series are favorites. Also love everything that Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn did, Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall, and anything with Bette Davis in it. I am very open minded to trying new movies and am always looking to broaden my movie experience. Thanks in advance for any ideas. Shasta.
  12. thank you dsclassic and lzcutter for those suggestions. I will try to watch them all. This is one resolution that should be a lot of fun to keep!
  13. Thank you very much for the suggestion! I will definitely put that on my list and hope that TCM will show it very soon.
  14. Happy New Year to you too dsclassic! I thoroughly enjoyed ringing in the new year with Mr Astaire and Miss Rogers. I also enjoyed sharing a toast with Mr. Osborne whom I really admire! I actually do have a new year movie resolution - I would like to watch a few silent movies. Please don't judge me too harshly but I have actually never seen a silent movie before. If you - or someone else - has a favorite I should see I would be grateful for the recommendation. Anyway - I am really glad I decided to start reading these message boards. They are a lot of fun and very informative!! Thank you all for that! I hope you all have a safe and happy new year!! I look forward to learning so much more about classic movies in 2008!! Shasta66 P.S. dsclassic - Bell Book and Candle is a really fun movie. I hope you enjoy it!
