    Any Lena Horne fans?

I've loved and admired Lena Horne since the first time I caught a glimpse of her in an old MGM musical, and I couldn't find any threads here that were expressly devoted to this great and very talented star. Please feel free to share any photos, stills, videos, etc. B-)

Mais oui. It is considered a delicacy, actually.

French food is very good, too! I love escargots (that's french for "snails")

The entire cast is very good in it. And I think even the period detail is good, although I remember most of it being set indoors.

Oh, that face, that fabulous face. Whose is it?

I know it's a very long shot, but could it possibly be Marlene Dietrich?

I think *Big Night* is about restauranteurs who put together a really big, fancy feast. It's been a while since I watched it.

Ingrid Bergman before she had braces?

Yes, that was definitely the movie Bronxgirl was talking about. It was a pretty good romantic comedy, Bridget Fonda and Nic Cage had good chemistry.

Thank you, Armand! That's a great photo. I'll try to add a few myself now and then. Message was edited by: ObamaGirl

    Off Topic: Favorite Music?

That's a very nice list, Jake! I love Diana Ross, Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner, and the Mamas and the Papas. Some of my favorite videos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-wI6uAOHzvo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0eu3WIXuzmo
  11. Isn't there another documentary that is included in the DVD set but which TCM did not show last night?

    Movie Rambles

    > {quote:title=rohanaka wrote:}{quote} > Only when I care about the characters... > > Some love stories makes more sense if everyone just loves each other from afar. Sometimes it makes for a more compelling movie, I agree. But such situations are also often very bittersweet. I don't want to take the discussion off-topic, but *The Umbrellas of Cherbourg* comes to mind. Having said that, the important thing is that the ending seem true to the story. I don't like movies that feel like they have a tacked-on happy ending.

    GRETCHEN THE GREENHORN (1916)

I just have to ask... what video company would be dumb enough to do something like that? Because I probably won't be buying any DVDs from them.

    Movie Rambles

It has taken me some time to start catching up with some of the rambles here, but I must say that reading the text of Daniel Webster's speech to the jury really made my day. The freedoms to which he refers in *The Devil and Daniel Webster* are as important as ever, which is why I think the movie still works so well today. As always, we must do everything we can to keep the country from "going to the devil".

    Complete Films

I visit the TCM media room from time to time and don't remember that they ever showed movies in their entirety. It is probably complicated enough as it is to negotiate the rights to the U.S. and Canada, which are sometimes separate, to add another layer of complexity to the whole thing.

    Movie Rambles

Hello everybody, I'm new to the forums, but not to TCM itself, the channel has been there for me on many a dreary, boring night. There is no better movie channel on television! I have grown to like Robert Osborne and Ben Mankiewicz (sp?) and look forward to their special events. Although some people are tired of hearing about the Oscars, I am actually looking forward to TCM's " 31 days of Oscar " this year, and have noticed many movies on the schedule I have never watched before. Thank you all for reading this (if you've read this far!) and I look forward to many of your rambles.

    general chat spot

Hello everybody I just wanted to say HI, been watching TCM for a few months now but never really knew they had a forum (the website itself you can't possibly ignore - they have a BIG BUG on all their movies!) I'm happy to see so many people who like classic film and are excited to talk about all of their favorite films and stars. Hope to get to know many of you.
