  3. Hello, All: I need to know the title of a film set shortly after WWI that involves: Two WW I Ace fighter pilots, one Allied, one German, who fought against each other inconclusively, Both are hired to fly replicas of their WW I fighter planes. Film director keeps asking for better aerial action (dog fights). Pilots secretly decide to settle their past aerial duels by using real ammunition and "dog fighting" to the end. Thank you very much, Matt

  5. My current quest is for one that I saw within the last year (yes, it's old and probably B&W). Involves an American(?) POW who escapes in Germany; is taken in by friendly elderly couple; through them makes contact with escapees' underground operation; a local underground guy takes him to the border and hands him off to the next in the chain of escape; locale might now be Austria. Final family to take him (and, shortly, an accompanying woman) sounded Austrian; her husband is long time character actor - it is probably not the character actor Paul Banner- who is a border guard, but sympathetic to the escapee route. In the finale, Banner shoots his superior (a Nazi), props him up in the border barbed wire, and is reporting that his superior was trying to escape "this wonderful country". The POW and lady friend get through the border wire and are last seen, a la "Sound of Music" on their happy way to Switzerland and Freedom.
