  1. WIlliam Conrad's vocal presence in the scene added a creepy quality. A 1946 audience wouldn't have been used to seeing him but his distinctive voice would have been recognizable in 1946 due to his frequent and excellent radio work. (Love listening to him on OTR.)
  2. Does anyone else but me consider The Lost Weekend a film noir? I think Italian neorealism was a big influence in that film, also.
