TCM I AM TIRED OF THE RACIST SHOWS

THE TITLE READS "I AM TIRED OF THE RACIST SHOWS' ..... IT DOES NOT SAY STOP!!!!! SHOWING THEM NOR HAVE I ..... NOR DOES IT IMPLY TCM HAS OR IS DOING SOMETHING WRONG BY SHOWING ANY MOVIE. YET HOW MANY PEOPLE TURNED THIS INTO SOMETHING THAT WAS NOT SAID OR IMPLIED? I AM NOT GOING TO ASSUME ANY THING ABOUT ANYTHING EXCEPT WHAT WAS WRITTEN . PERHAPS WHAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN SAID WAS ' I AM TIRED OF RACIST SHOWS WITH BLACK FACE AS HUMOR, JMO (OR JUST MY OPINION) AGAIN, THE TITLE DOES NOT SAY A WORD ABOUT OTHERS.IT IS ODD HOW IT HAS BEEN DISCUSSED, RATHER LIKE CHILDREN AND THAT LEAVES ME TO WONDER ...WHO COMPARES WHAT HURTS A WHOLE RACE OF PEOPLE TO EVERYTHING THAT WAS DRAGGED INTO THE CONVERSATION YOU HAD AMONGST YOUR SELVES? YOU SEEMED TO HAVE BROUGHT IT INTO 2012 , OKAY I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THAT MOVIE MADE NOW AND THOSE WHO FOUND THE BLACKFACE SO FUNNY GO AND WATCH IT, IN A THEATER ...NOT YOUR HOME LOL.........

TCM I AM TIRED OF THE RACIST SHOWS

LOL This is entertainment , you just care what I think to much..... go on with your life ; as I have said watch and enjoy what you want, it is only a reflection of who you are, who you are and what you believe means absolutely nothing to me. I am the only person who has not attacked another,or tried to provoke another. I have been nothing but cordial and explained a question directed at me.

TCM I AM TIRED OF THE RACIST SHOWS

lol I do not know, I know out west here, the Hispanic people do not like to see a sitting hombre taking a nap , it is called 'being lazy' so I am told....... Now back to blackface, as some other people I have a mixture of friends and yes, you guessed, some are Black, Mexican, Causation and so on (the list could go on forever) I happened to mention I was watching a Judy Garland Marathon type and a friend looked at me and said "I hope it is not that blackface Judy Garland dancing" in which I replied No I am not watching it, now she had no problem that it was on but she could not believe her friend would think that was funny, I did not ask her why it was not funny, whether you people want to admit it or not it is not funny to a black person for reasons of there own, I choose to honor those feelings as it is not any skin off of my back and the black lawn jockey? If you do not know what it refers to; googly it. As for Dustin Hoffman I do not know what to tell you, It does not offend me, it may others? All that black makeup does is make fun of black people, the big lips and such. It is my choice not to watch, like I said the fact was THIS I do not like Andy Rooney either, and so I had wished there was a movie on that showed off Garlands talent better. (IF YOU READ) I am Native American, I do not care what Caucasians have done with red paint..... but Casinos? Interesting to declare land as Indian owned and then the courts tried to shut down Casinos...lol watch that movie or Docudrama. I choose to support my friend who is black, the black makeup was put on to make fun of black people, there in lies a difference.

TCM I AM TIRED OF THE RACIST SHOWS

My last thought for now is joe? I could not agree more and as I said I do cringe for a moment, but I will not stop watching something like State Fair Does that make me a bad person? I do not know, I do know I have to draw the line someplace. That's me. I am not directing this next paragraph to anyone in particular. I do notice that the longer studios let Blackface exist , that being a society that was still segregated and laughed at such a thing, does not make it right then but especially now. Judy Garland owes many many people of color the money that goes to her family. TCM has an obligation to all viewers because it is on Federal Airways. So they may have problems, I speak to the person who wants blackface shown, as it was 80 years ago and somehow now it is funny? You can go and buy films based directly on mostly blackface humor now, and more soon, I believe. I looked at past post and saw nothing that upset me.

TCM I AM TIRED OF THE RACIST SHOWS

As the original poster, I do not have a clue as to what you are speaking about? All my post, as there are very few; are about Musicals and thanking TCM for showing more Musicals than years before, the many additions that have been made in the last five years , is so positive. Yes I am happy that war movies are not being shown all day, that is the one problem I had with this channel many years ago, we have Springbreak now, Birthdays, and as most people know Labor Day is for men and women who work albeit any job, and Memorial Day of course the day we honor those who fought.....The celebrations just keep going on. I honestly do not know what of you speak. I just appreciate the way TCM has come full circle. If you find Blackface somehow entertaining ..... so what? Does the paint make the people dance better? Does it enhance the plotline? how does it give one entertainment? (I am serious)

TCM I AM TIRED OF THE RACIST SHOWS

As a Native American, the only thing you can do at the 'red 'paint' is laugh, maybe I am wrong but really? It looks so silly. I am not going to bother to reply to each , let me say, I did choose not to watch "Babes" or all Hands on Deck, all Hands on Deck is just a terrible movie to me, terrible acting and slapstick at it's worst. However, that is my opinion......and I did choose not to watch 'Babes" too much Rooney, and as I said I just do not care for him, especially if he is in the lead. I did not mean to bring out such 'mean-ness' and it sounds like I did. Maybe it was the way I wrote it. I will admit there were so many more Judy Garland shows I wanted to see. One of my favorite Musicals "State Fair" with Dana Andrews and Jeane Craine had a real whopper of a one liner about the songwriter paying Dick Haimes. (?)Still I Love the movie as I do OKLAHOMA! , Seven Wives For Seven Brothers, all of Jane Powell, Betty Garrett Vera Ellen and June Allyson .The list goes on movies and dancers alike....as I have said the women danced the same steps only backwards ! I know many objectionable (to me) things are written in most early movies yet they still rein as the Best Classical Musicals and Movies of all time. I love TCM I can not afford to buy all the Great shows so I know with what truth I wrote that. As many pointed out many truths at the time these shows were written, I will not stop watching a classic because of some old foolish writing. BUT! Black Face I choose to avoid, I have yet to see a movie that was good enough to sit through and watch that. Again, however to each his own.
  8. First we had 'All Hands on Deck' ...... with Buddy Hackett entertaining everyone with his Native American (screenplay) get up. During Judy Garlands Tribute we had to watch Babes in Arms with its "honoring" of black-face..... when was black-face something we should enjoy or worse yet HONOR? She did many movies to pick this one out with the overacting Mickey Rooney was to me a mistake. And yes, I do believe Rooney was and will always be one of the worst actors of all time; not because of Babes; but because he over-acted, it is a wonder his head did not shake off at times, worse yet he has carried that attitude of" I was and will always be a Star" his whole life. Why didn't someone tell him the truth.

Vera-Ellen - Should be the star of the month.

In 2009 people asked for Vera-Ellen to be Star of the Month, was she I do not remember seeing this happen, I am not sure. I do know that she was a wonderful underrated dancer, actress. She was hardly given a line or two to speak, yet in White Christmas her dancing and acting blew me away.To always be used as a prop must be sad. This is a good time for me to say or mention some trivia.... June Allyson and Judy Garland were both favorites of mine. June Allyson was also somewhat underrated. But when I found out that both were first choices for Royal Wedding I had to sit down, how could either do the job Jane Powell did? Under-rated yes.... you will find a few dancers by that word in a dictionary. Back to Miss Vera Ellen, at the least we should celebrate her birth. I love all the old Musicals but I have found that many were overused and many underused , much to the dismay of the FILM that was made. And so life goes on.....Ann Miller? The great minds did not always get it right, any dancer who could really dance as well as all of the ladies I have mentioned, add the word step for step and backwards with the likes of Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire will never!! get the praise that is not only due them nor is it simply mentioned. Ginger Rogers blood stained shoes........... Lets here it for these women of dance!!!

    Most Beautiful Musical Moments

I was looking ahead on the calender and noticed that July 1 st is a day filled with a range of musicals. I looked at all the ( mostly early morning ) treats. I am in pacific time but not a big problem.Anyway I was caught in thought and finally realized that Most Beautiful Musical Moments to me cannot be defined , actually it was a broad range of years that the Musical was here, yes it changed but it never left. It spanned a good twenty years or a bit more, to me they all represent beauty because in song you always bring sadness or joy , love or harm from it. It tells its own story within the plot bringing the two together. (Hopefully) So, for all the Music lovers remember or look up July 1 (2012) for a great day.

IT Took Awhile But Now I Can Say THANKS TCM

I come again to thank those who are saying Happy Birthday to all the Legends .Sunday is Judy Garlands Day ; what a feast for myself, although I have most of the movies it is so refreshing to hear the host , usually Robert Osborne tell us more trivia or remind us of what has been forgotten. I absolutely loved a comment or 'no comment' he made as on my TV Guide it said "State Fair" with Pat Boone was to be on, instead it was a Navy comedy? I am embarrassed to have forgotten the name It had many unbelievable things going on but the one that stood out was Buddy Hackett acting in all sincerity as a Native American; which Robert Osborne smirked and offered 'no comment' as to the casting. Indeed, sometimes in all the beautiful moments will come a written line so racist it is hard not to cringe. I chose not to watch the movie as it offered nothing actually funny. It was infact embarrassing to watch five minutes of Pat Boone, Barbara Eden and Buddy Hackett without not asking for apologies. Does someone really want to ACT that badly? I would hope not , but yet there it was with all the players. Maybe I choose not to remember the name? Anyway, Thanks for the wonderful movies of which musicals and comedy I so love!
