Born in Montgomery Alabama....both parents were immigrants from the UK. Dad fought in RAF from 1941-1943 and returned with a war bride, my Mom. Raised in essentially English household as an island within the USA. Have a nursing management background and served in the USAF NC. Son repaid grandparents for leaving the UK by being born in the UK while on an overseas assignment.
Love movies and devour books by the hundreds. Read good English history, political history and WWII history along with a fanatical interest in Russian history (who knew?). Goal is to visit all post communist countries I was afraid of as a child. So far have winked at Lenin, surreptisiously saluted Mao in a disrespective manner and look forward to doing the same in "respect" to Fidel.
Love to travel...based travel goals on books I read, movies I've seen and two songs: You Belong to Me by Jo Stafford as I sailed down the Nile and Istanbul Not Constantinople by the Ink Spots sailing in the Bosphorus. Other tourists tried not to look or listen...especially the Germans on the river boat down the Nile while I sang the lyrics off key but none the less enthusiastic.
So for those who comment on my spelling, I spell in the UK fashion as required in letters to relatives when I was a child, have a British vocabulary which comes in handy for watching English telly and movies and was very helpful when I lived there.
Getting on in life but glad to be so as I don't much like the outside world as it currently exists.
