WHO ELSE SAVES ALL "Now Playing" Guides?

Does anyone have an extra copy or anything of the April 2005 TCM guide (or even just the front cover)? Unfortunately I didn't renew my subscription in time and missed this issue :-( I would really love to have a copy of the cover picture of Errol Flynn as it is gorgeous! (And it is a family source of amusement that my grandfather used to look like Errol Flynn when he was young). I will pay postage costs--- please email me: LotusFlower1922@hotmail.com Thanks!!! peace is the word bunny (the needy classic films fan . . . ) :-D

Try to locate a movie ~ help....

"Come Fly with me" (1963) is sometimes shown on TCM. The last airing was this past December. I'm not sure if it's available on VHS/DVD, however. peace is the word bunny

    Harold Lloyd-- "Feet First"

I had tuned in at my friend's house to see "The Milky Way" (which I missed), and I wondered why the picture quality looked so bad. After doubting the TV, my eyes, and a number of other variables, I concluded that they must have shown a bad print, and then succumbed to the puzzling question as to WHY they would do that. I too believe the silent work of Chaplin, Keaton, and Lloyd is FAR superior to their sound films. It is a bit disappointing-- bursts the bubble, so to speak, to put a voice to a character I've come to know and love so much in silence. Kind of like finding out as a kid that wearing a Superman cape doesn't make you fly. I was a little disappointed to see all talkies last Sunday, but I am also very eagerly looking forward to seeing Grandma's Boy and Never Weaken, which I had seen some years back (my very first Lloyd film), and loved immensely. I am somewhat familiar with Super VHS, but what is Super VHS ET? How do the two differ? I understand the picture quality is considerably better than regular VHS, and I've been wanting to get a super VHS-compatible VCR-- I have a double decker; the one deck's picture quality is a little better than the second . . . trying to figure that one out. :-? If you could please make me a VHS copy of "Feet First" and "The Milky Way", I'd be eternally greatful! Would you prefer if I send you the blank tape, or a check? You can email me privately (lotusflower1922@Hotmail.com) and we can work out the logistics, mailing, etc. Thanks again for the hand! peace is the word Bunny
  7. Did anyone record "Feet First", airing at 10:30 PM, CDT on Sunday, April 13? If so, I need your help! I programmed the VCR to record, but when I came back I found that half the movie got cut! :`-( I am an incurable Harold Lloyd addict and now am Very Sad! Is there anyone else out there that recorded "Feet First" that would be kind enough to make me a VHS copy? If you could, please reply, either here, or email lotusflower1922@hotmail.com I would greatly appreciate it!!! peace is the word Bunny
  8. I know this is a mind-stretch, but does anybody remember the TCM Remembers short for Ann Sothern? Maybe someone out there has a really good memory, or recorded it (like i did), or something. My question is, does anybody know what that music is that plays in the background (most prominently at the beginning)? It is a slow, smoky, very beautiful jazzy tune . . . it sounds so familiar, but I can't for the life of me think what it is.

    Help, please :)

Was it a foreign language film? If it is, could it be "Ashes and Diamonds" (produced in Poland in the '50s)? On IMDb: http://imdb.com/Title?0052080

    jazz short

The short is "Jammin' the Blues", produced in 1944 by Gordon Hollingshead. The only video that I know of that it is on, is a video titled "Lester Young & Billie Holiday"; it is a collection of various shorts and film clips featuring Billie Holiday and Lester Young, and includes (the video begins with) "Jammin' the Blues". You can read about it here: http://www.ladyday.net/watc/vidjazz.html And purchase it on Amazon.com: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0000038S7/qid%3D1044612539/sr%3D11-1/ref%3Dsr%5F11%5F1/104-4855522-7163917 Although, at present, Amazon.com does not have this item in stock. Another online video store may have it in stock, or you could check back with Amazon.

    why not bobby darin?

Bobby Darin is the best!!! Almost better than Sinatra, in my opinion, and not a bad actor at all. I did happen to see "State Fair" (I think that's the title?) on AMC last year, with Darin and Ann-Margret, and the Fox movie channel sometimes shows Darin 60's fluff. No innovative cinematographical work here, but sure makes for delightful entertainment. It's a shame TCM does not show more of his films. BTW, picking up on cheryl trizzle's idea . . . wouldn't it be a neat contest situation, the grand prize of which was the chance to schedule one day of TCM programming. Weird, and impossible perhaps, but interesting to think about . . .

    background musicians

Does anyone know who performed the background ("incidental") music in various scenes of "Clambake" (1967). For example, the "supper club" scenes (i've not seen the entire movie) with the band/combo playing amidst people dancing, dining, etc. The music is jazzy/bossa nova-sounding type stuff . . . who was performing this?
