  1. The first hour of the movie was great! Joan Crawford wanted to play this role so bad, but she was quick to realize after the movie was released that she was "miscast." She and Robert Taylor made a great duo! Please subscribe to my YouTube channel if you're enjoying these! I love making the vids. I'll be doing a duo review with TopBilled next week!

Thank you for reminding me to watch this! I've been meaning to watch the Fredric March one! Plus, I know he won the Oscar for his performance! Last year I was Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde for Halloween Check my pictures out.

Thank you for the very kind words! And also for the recommendations! I knew that Corman made a lot of the Edgar Allen Poe movies with Vincent Price, but I wasn't sure which ones to watch first. "The House of Usher" has always looked spooky to me so I will definitely be watching that one. I'm glad I started this forum in the General Discussions area because I felt like not everyone ventured into the genre area...now I know that my feeling was right! I look forward to seeing your comments on my reviews!

I'm kicking off my very first Halloween Special with "The Terror." What do you all think of my spooky set for October? I'm only doing horror flicks for the rest of the month. I'll try to do a review a day to get the full Halloween experience! Be sure to give a comment or like on my videos! Also subscribe if you want to know when my future reviews come out!

"The Virgin Queen" 1955 Movie Review...Bette Davis doing Bette Davis Things!

Haha I mentioned in the review that it was early in her career and that maybe she came out with better movies that I am unaware of! It's kind of like Gene Tierney...she got better and better as her career went on. After the 1950s is where my knowledge is a bit limited. I felt so bad for criticizing Joan Collins so much in my review lol such bad timing considering her sister's death! I posted the video just 1 day before she died! Anyways, it's cool how we are all fans of different stars for different reasons. For example, I never saw anything special about Cary Grant...he's a handsome devil and was great at playing the handsome guy...but did he really push his acting skills much? He had great movies! I mean come on, he was in "North By Northwest!" But I'd hardly put him in my top 10 of actors from back then...we all have different faves for different reasons...that's what makes these forums so fun! We can see what each other thinks!

"The Virgin Queen" 1955 Movie Review...Bette Davis doing Bette Davis Things!

Also, prayers go out to Joan Collins and her family for losing her sister! I may have not have cared for her much in "The Virgin Queen," but I'm sure she had some great movies that I haven't seen yet!

"The Virgin Queen" 1955 Movie Review...Bette Davis doing Bette Davis Things!

I think it's interesting that you thought that Joan Collins worked well with Richard Todd. I thought she came across as a bratty childlike pretty brunette. I didn't like her at all and thought her acting was so poor compared to someone like Liz Taylor. Her voice is what really bothered me! Of course, Liz Taylor had already been acting for quite some time (and is amazing) so it's hard to compare the two. Maybe this is what the director was going for, but I doubt it...I feel like he would have at least wanted the viewers to love Joan Collins and want her to have a "happy ending" with Sir Walter Raleigh. She was definitely the "2nd girl" but in this case, I saw nothing likable...I at least like Olivia de Haveland when she plays the sort of "weak" female role she was given so many times! Of course this is all personal opinion. I'm excited to see Essex! I am a Errol Flynn fanboy so I might be a bit biased in my review haha but we'll see, maybe I'll side with "The Virgin Queen" in deciding which one I think is better. I definitely see your point about Richard Todd being more "trained" than Flynn in terms of acting, but we all know that Flynn had something special and unique that made him so entertaining to watch. Poor guy never had many chances to push his acting skills and showcase them.

"History is Made at Night" Movie Review - 4/4 Stars!

I also failed to mention, "History is Made at Night" is all on YouTube. If you don't have a way of watching it, watch there! Someone was nice to enough to upload it there.

"History is Made at Night" Movie Review - 4/4 Stars!

Hey guys! I liked Carillo so much that I might look for more movies with him. I'm also going to check out more Colin Clive movies..he's in one with Paul Muni called "The Woman I Love" that I'm searching hard for! I really want to see it because it has a great cast.

"Black Fury" 1935 Starring Paul Muni - Review

Hey Top! I'm glad you liked the review! It definitely had some complex issues to consider. I wanted to let you know that I'm still going to review "Love Letters." I'm dying to see it, but I'm waiting on getting Joseph Cotten's autobiography in the mail before I review it. I want to see if I can get more background information on his movies before I review more of them. I'm uploading another review as I type this message. It's "History is Made at Night," which I loveeeeeed. I'll post it in the romance section in a little bit.

"Portrait of Jennie" A Fantasy Romance that was such a gem to discover! - Movie Review

I can totally see where you are coming from with that! I guess "ghost" may not be the right word for Jennie..."spirit" is probably best. But the way that Ethel Barrymore looked at him, and how she talked about him being the type of man she would have loved in her past days...hints to your theory. Also, how she looked after him...MAYBE he was just losing his mind the entire movie and secretly in love with Ethel haha. I remember at one point I literally thought during it, "wait a second, is Jennie actually Ethel Barrymore?" I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought this!

"Portrait of Jennie" A Fantasy Romance that was such a gem to discover! - Movie Review

Hey TopBilled! I appreciate the suggestions a lot. Well, I said that she was a ghost because it is pretty obvious that she is from the start and crucial to explaining the story. Also, my reviews are not designed to give too much history behind the movie (I'm not a film historian or even a film major in school). There was a lot of information I read about the movie in Selznick's book, but that's just not what I'm looking to do in my reviews. I provide a little bit of background of course but nothing too deep. My reviews are mainly for fun for myself to talk about the things I noticed/liked/disliked with a little bit of background on the movies...nothing too deep like I said. On the other hand, if people like you know a lot more of the history about these movies than I do, I love seeing what you have to say here on the forum. That's one of the major reasons I'm posting my reviews here...to learn more! Also, thanks for the recommendation! I should check "Love Letters" out.

"Dragonwyck" A Great Pre-Horror Vincent Price Movie - Review

Haha yes I did! I mentioned it briefly in my video review, and I had the same exact feeling. Peck doesn't feel right for this part at all. If you're enjoying my reviews so far, you can subscribe to me on YouTube to always see when they come out. I'm about to put my recent review on "Portrait of Jennie" here on the forum. I will put it here in the "Romance" section as well.

"Dragonwyck" A Great Pre-Horror Vincent Price Movie - Review

I would have preferred to put the movie in a "period drama" category but the categories are a bit limited on this website. Romance was the closest thing haha. She was great as the house maid! It's too bad she was not in more scenes. I felt the same way for Price's daughter in it. Considering it was the 40s, I doubt they were willing to show an explicit drug addiction scene. Call me old fashioned, but that's one of the reasons I like classics. They don't have to show too much to get the point across that he is a drug addict. Thanks for the reply, hope you liked the video!

My Take on "Nightmare Alley" Movie Review

Hey James, I'm glad you and faceinthecrowd like the movie so much. Helen Walker just didn't do anything special for me. There are plenty of "noir" films where I cheer for someone. This just happened to be one where I did not like the characters. I liked the movie, but I didn't think it was special. I love hearing your replies! And thank you for taking the time to watch the video. Not many people have watched it, and it's really nice to know someone took the time to listen to my opinions. My next review is going to be "Portrait of Jennie." I thought it was interesting and definitely worth watching!
