    Racism in Trump's America

How many American lives were adversely affected or ruined by Wall Street Criminal Excesses. You can destroy lives and kill human beings without ever shooting them or physically touching them. White collar crime is a crime not just because it breaks the law but, also because it hurts real people.

Cid-- I couldn't figure out what was going on and it was hard to read. At first I thought you had just put lines through my comments. But you're a gentleman and I know you wouldn't do that. Lawrence may be the only person on the website who could explain how something like that could happen. And Cid, it goes without saying, I've enjoyed communicating with you and appreciate your comments even when I don't agree with them. LOL

Ironically just a few minutes ago I was thinking the same thing and how much more important FDR is than Lincoln in American history-- in terms of the success of his long-term projects . And I also had Thomas Jefferson up there in the top five, as far as I know the only president who loved French literature in the vernacular. So if we had to go back in history and look at that assassination attempt on FDR by Giuseppe Zangara and say oh it should have been something like that for Lincoln instead. I have to say I'm I satisfied with the way things really did turn out. With all apologies to Mayor Cermak and Mrs Lincoln.

You know eventually the system is going to change a great deal and the people who are running it now won't be running it in the future. We're just beginning to see the power some diverse groups have acquired in the last 40 or 50 years. The system changes as the voting public changes, which is what we're in for with the millennials. We're at the very beginning of all these changes and I'm thrilled about it. I think that you are an extraordinary individual to have a lot of the opinions that you have, considering the toxicity that you must experience in your environment. But as President Kennedy said in his inaugural address: the first step is always the hardest in a long journey.. And I'm looking forward to seeing all of the improvements that people of diversity coming into real power in the federal government, as well as local governments will take us. It's not going to always be the way it is right now. Having Grown up in the 1950s and 60s, I can already see the vast changes and improvements that we've made in this country. We can't give in to fear of change-- and if all else fails we do have attrition. LOL

Unbelievable, but obviously the time has come for women to take charge while we still do have a country!

Ham, I was under the impression that you grew up in the United States in the 1960s just like me. The absolutely coolest thing that you could wear in the mid -sixties were cut- off jeans-- preferably white ones. I was "blessed" with an older brother who wore these white jeans out so that my mother could cut them off and rip them up and give them to me! Of course, I couldn't wear them to school, like the girls do today. Because we weren't even allowed to wear dress pants to school. But these rip-off jeans could be as long as Bermuda shorts or short as we wear short shorts. And I wore them on my most important dates or social outings with a boy or girlfriends to the movies, the bowling alley or to the Putt-Putt and then on to the Pizza Hut. LOL

My favorite Yoko Ono song is called "Give Me Something". She starts it by cawing like a crow. It's a very controlled sound and she handles it well. Yoko was one of the pioneers in performance art. And that's how John Lennon met her at one of her shows in London.

    Racism in Trump's America

The Central Park 5/birther has a lot of hypocritical nerve demanding that Ms Omar resign for an honest opinion, when he has been a racist and a misogynist in public promotion and business for decades.

Leave Him To Heaven-- the presidential hate of drumpf aka trump

It's such a shame when some Americans have so little regard or concern about the welfare and safety of their fellow American citizens.
  20. When they release trump's health data, they'll have to hold the press conference at McDonald's.

    Trump's Biggest Whoppers

While, well, everything you may say is true, this particular freshman congressperson is a Somalian refugee coming from a very different cultural background and worldview from most Americans-- right now. I understand that Nancy Pelosi even had to pass some kind of a resolution so Ms Omar could wear her head scarf in Congress. LOL So she represents a complete Outsider who isn't very politically astute in our system at the moment. The most important thing about Ms Omar is that she well- represents her constituency and that's what is really important in a democracy. It's simply a shot in the arm to our political system to see people coming in from the absolute outside --culturally, politically and in every other way. I think it's easy to shoot down a beginner who is coming from another world Outlook and culture and who isn't politically astute. But as the country becomes more and more diverse, we're going to see more and more non-orthodox and what we would call politically not astute actions coming from individuals who are representing diverse constituencies. And I, for one, am looking forward to watching the fireworks.

I grew up at the very beginning of rock and roll on the radio. But the first music that I remember oh, the music that my parents liked was the American popular songbook type stuff. They had 78's and it was all on the radio-- The singers that I liked the best were Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Eddie Fisher, and Rosemary Clooney. Those were the top singers along with Bing Crosby. My mother loved Steve Allen, who had the first "Tonight Show" on NBC. My first memories of my favorite singer, who I grew up with, Andy Williams, was hearing him singing on " The Tonight Show " as I was falling asleep. My mother told me her favorite girl singer was Eydie Gorme'. And that Eydie had met Steve Lawrence on "The Tonight Show". How different musical history for me and so many other people might have been had Eydie married Andy Williams instead of Steve Lawrence. LOL We watched Perry Como and Dinah Shore on television and that was a continuation of the same kind of music. But rock and roll was starting to really kick in. I can remember the first time I ever heard it on the radio: it was Bill Haley & the Comets. It was exciting to be on the ground floor of rock and roll, but I never stopped listening to American popular music. Growing up in the 1950s and 60s with AM radio: Andy Williams, Nat King Cole, Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra-- they never left the radio station even when there was all of that rock at the same time. However in Northeast Kansas you couldn't listen to the radio for one hour without hearing the late great Mr Jim Reeves, Patsy Cline or my personal favorite, Johnny Cash. Country music will always be King in Kansas. And the Grand Ole Opry always toured in the vicinity at least once or twice a year.

    The Triumph of Donald Trump

This is more than a simple victory for Nancy Pelosi and House Democrats. This is the first sign of true weakness slipping in trump's control of Senate Republicans. Thechink in the armor. Hannity doesn't like this, so Trump is being forced into it. Republicans don't think they could electorally survive another shut down. ** But the truth of the matter is after the mess with the last shutdown-- Which unfortunately was juxtaposition with the kick in reality of the lies concerning the tax bill-- This has been a truly horrendous last few weeks for Congressional Republicans. You can smell cut and run in the air.....
