The only real problem with "Tomorrow, The World" is its' "happy ending".

A complicated love story - distinguished by two fine performances - Alan Bates and George de la Pena.

    A Very English Scandal

"The Man in the Orange Shirt" is one of the great gay love stories. Both of the actors, so deeply in love, are memorable.

With Woody Allen, from year to year, you never know what kind of movie you are going to get. Look at "To Rome,With Love", it is almost totally disposable. And, yet, it is full of an quirky charm that is irresistible.

TCM and Other Sources for Classic Film

"Tomorrow The World" has such a happy ending - a happy ending that doesn't fit.
  16. Yes, I remember watching "Pufnstuf" on Saturday mornings. How did you find the DVD set? "The Pied Piper" with Donovan, is a very interesting film. It was directed by the man who gave us "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg". I am so glad that you enjoyed "Flight of the Doves". I'd like to read the book.

Below, John David Carson as the gorgeous young man who saves us from the giant ants in "Empire of the Ants" (1977) - unfortunately, not fast enough, the star, Joan Collins, gets eaten by a giant ant (?!) -

Night of films to commemorate Stonewall

Late in life, Carlton Carpenter wrote a series of gay mysteries. And, yet, I am unable to track them down. Does anyone have any of them?

    "Bohemian Rhapsody"(2018)

Rami Malek seemed such an unlikely choice for Freddie Mercury - and yet he was so brilliant and won the Best Actor Oscar.

Might "A Very English Scandal" be available On Demand?
  23. I've never heard of "Melody". But, believe me, "Flight of the Doves" is a fine film.

  25. There are just so many so-called straight films that actually turn out to be gay. A recent example is "Dead Reckoning" with Humphrey Bogart and Lizabeth Scott. In the film, Bogart goes through hell and high water to prove that his war buddy was murdered and the reasons for it. At the end of the film, Lizabeth Scott, who is going to be brought to justice by Bogart, says to him, "Don't you love me?" He says to her simply, "Of course, but I loved him more.". Suddenly, the film is thrown into an entirely different light. Also, throughout the film, the overall narration by Bogart has some definite gay vibes, which do point the way to the unexpected conclusion.
