  1. "Poltergeist II' has not aged well as the original film and let's not even mention the dreadful remake

It's been a very long time since I last watched any of the Poltergeist films, I'm going by memory. I could well change Poltergeist around when I go through the films next time, which I plan to soon.

  3. Surprised to see there aren't more fans around here. Maybe there's more around who haven't seen this yet.

I didn't see the reboot, I passed after seeing those terrible initial trailers. Completely put me off.

  4. After their newest installments this Summer, The Conjuring 2 and The Purge: Election Year were both worthy additions to their series. The Conjuring 2 is the best of the trilogy but with The Purge I still like Anarchy the best.

  5. My favorites:

Friday The 13th = Jason X (in outer space, all that was missing were some Nazis)

Halloween = the first by John Carpenter

A Nightmare On Elm Street = the original

    Saw

Scream = the first since Drew gets it

    Phantasm

    Evil Dead

    Alien = Aliens

    Predator = the first

    Child's Play = none

    Hellraiser

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre = the first

    Insidious

    Final Destination

    Paranormal Activity

The ones that are blank you haven't seen?

  6. I guess it's debatable if these are straight-up Horror but I always considered them Horror-Comedies in the same vein of movies like Return Of The Living Dead and the Evil Dead sequels, so I think it fits.

Long-time fan of both movies (including the second which I think is sorely underrated and gets a lot of unfair scorn) and also love the cartoon series and the 2009 video game which essentially is the third movie in game form. Any other fans here? Both movies are among my all-time favorites and I've seen them both endlessly, so rewatchable and entertaining. They're the quintessential Horror-Comedies with just as many laughs as scares and both are infinitely quotable and have so many great moments. The Terror Dogs, library ghost, Stay Puft, Vigo, the river of slime, the Scoleri Brothers, the Statue Of Liberty, etc. both movies are so awesome.

I'm not excited about the upcoming reboot at all which to me reeks of another unnecessary remake of a classic. I'm not even totally anti-remake but this is a film that doesn't need it at all to me. For me the video game is the true third chapter and finale.

  7. Thought this would be a fun topic with the seemingly wide array of Horror fans here. Of the following Horror series with at least three films or more, which is your single favorite entry in each? Cut and paste the list and fill it with your choice of your single favorite film per series. Add some more series if you'd like, for now I listed some of the major ones. Just be sure it's three movies or more, no two movies only ones (ie. House Of 1, 000 Corpses/The Devil's Rejects, Laid To Rest 1 and 2, etc.) and any series that has a remake, prequel, crossover, etc. those count.

    ---

    Friday The 13th
    Halloween
    A Nightmare On Elm Street
    Saw
    Scream
    Phantasm
    Evil Dead
    Alien
    Predator
    Child's Play
    Hellraiser
    The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
    Insidious
    Final Destination
    Paranormal Activity

    ---

IMO the best installment in each:

Friday The 13th - The Final Chapter
    Halloween - 1978 Original
A Nightmare On Elm Street - New Nightmare
    Saw - Saw II
    Scream - Original
    Phantasm - Phantasm II
Evil Dead - Evil Dead II
    Alien - Aliens
    Predator - Predator 2
    Child's Play - Original
    Hellraiser - Original
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre - 2003 Remake
    Insidious - Chapter 3
    Final Destination - Original
    Paranormal Activity - Original

    Some additionals I forgot before:

Romero's Living Dead - Day Of The Dead (1985)
Return Of The Living Dead - Part II
Maniac Cop - Maniac Cop 2
Puppet Master - Puppet Master 4
    Poltergeist - Poltergeist II
    Leprechaun - Original
I Know What You Did Last Summer -Original
    Jaws - Original
    Tremors - Original
Blade - Still undecided between the original or Blade II

I'm sure a few of my choices are controversial and are bound to raise eyebrows, like Predator 2, Poltergeist II and ROTLD2. Not to say I didn't like the originals because I do, I just simply enjoyed the subsequent sequel more though I'm well-aware some of my choices are unpopular (I'm sure me preferring the TCM remake is also controversial). Should be fun to see the varied responses this'll get.

  8. Any fans here? One of my favorite movie series and heroes of all-time and I'm in the minority of fans who loves all of the films, even the fourth. My ranking of the series is sure to be controversial and I'm sure some will want to kill me for it, but it goes:

    Temple Of Doom
    Raiders Of The Lost Ark
    Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull
    The Last Crusade

I'm an unashamed Temple Of Doom fan and it's always been my favorite. I'd never argue with anyone saying Raiders is the best and it's a classic, but I find TOD the most entertaining. It's darker, creepier and meaner tone combined with the amazing setpieces and action make it my favorite and I also think it has the best villains and version of Indy. I love how at times it gets very Horror-like.

I actually tend to rotate on the last two but honestly tend to like Last Crusade the least. Don't get me wrong as I still like it very much, but it just seems to hold up the least well for me. The much more goofy, comical and jokey nature of it with the constant gags and slapstick got jarring and I think it was a mistake for it to try to essentially be Raiders 2.0 after TOD being such a different movie from the original was one of it's strengths to me. The Nazis again, desert setting, biblical relic, etc. just felt repetitive and I found the villains the most boring of the series. I still like it but I'm in the uber-small minority who rates it last.

Crystal Skull grew on me. It's not without problems but it was awesome seeing Indy back and I enjoyed the story, setpieces, villains and action scenes, and it definitely brought back that fun and non-stop adventure feeling for me. It used to be my least favorite but with rewatches it improved a great deal for me.

All in all, a great series and I'm very happy to a hear a fifth one is planned.
