  1. CC of Sent to CONTACT US:

When will: Foreign Correspondent (1940) aired yesterday (11/6) be available in TCM ON DEMAND FREE for viewing on TV (not for streaming)? Also The Big Shakedown,  (1934) aired Monday 11/5) has still not been downloaded to ON DEMAND so I can watch due to was impossible to watch original airing at 12:30 AM.

Thank you in advance for a prompt reply,

    SteveQL

  2. I have Comcast (Xfinity).  Just a couple of new titles added (three Joel McCrea westerns). But the rest ---------- numerous Bowery Boys titles which have been there for days. It appears I must watch titles when aired (but can't always be here) or not  see at all due to may not added to On Demand.  Example again: The Big Shakedown.

The Big Shakedown which aired at 12:30 AM.  Is not in On Demand as I feared.  Thus, I entered it in SEARCH and it is there for $3.99 - $9.99.

Few on Demand Titles.   Usually they are downloaded shortly after initial airing. I've waited years to see "The Big Shakedown (1934)" but not at 12:30 AM.   I certainly hope it will be on On Demand.  I don't want to stream it.

Am I the only one noticing lack of On Demand titles?

  5. Patterns (1956) and The Hunted (1948) both aired Saturday are in On Demand but only HD versions.  No SD versions! I advised TCM of this in its Contact US box. No reply! Even though if both titles were, as is typical for a two full weeks now,  in postage stamp embedded in letterbox ------ as difficult to watch ----- better than nothing.  I won't stream titles on my 15" computer screen----------- I want to watch on my 32" SD 4:3 TV.

  6. It is pure and simple a TCM problem.  I've (and am tired of doing) downloaded numerous SD (old pre wide screen era movies --mostly B movies from channels other than TCM. And each and every one fills entire 4:3 screen.  But that does not solve my problem with TCM titles impossible to watch.  I've notified my provider who I pay plenty every month for TCM.  I reported to TCM and of course no reply.  So fed up.  Direct TV may be the only solution!

  7. Since this  Monday (10/8) TCM  (Turner Classic Movies) SD titles IN ON DEMAND are squeezed to postage stamp embedded in middle of letterbox after intro. Thus, SD movies do not open to full screen. Senseless to watch.
Thus, could not watch “Lady from Shanghai” and other  SD titles on my SD 4:3 only TV!
This occurred a few months ago and was ultimately fixed. THIS IS NOT OCCURRING WITH SD TITLES ON ANY OTHER ON DEMAND CHANNELS. ONLY TCM!

    Any others have same problem?

    Thank you,

  8.

JUST ONE OF HUNDREDS OF POSTS RE HD CONTENT

Lack of HD Premium channel content

I hear all this talk of 4k rolling out yet the premium channels are not all in HD.  Directv and Dish have ALL THEIR PREMIUMS IN HD! Why is the HOme shopping network and the food channel in HD yet PAID PREMIUM SUBSCRIPTION channels are not?

HBO East is not in HD.  (all the live events/shows ex Game of Thrones airs on HBO East before it airs on HBO West) I don't want to wait 3 hours to watch my favorite TV show in HD.  The same goes for all the other providers!  This is 2017!

Only 4 out of 12 HBO Channels are in HD.   (HBO go does not stream live content so don't try to tell me to authenticate via the APP)

Only 1 out of 7 Starz Channels is in HD.... (Starz does not even Xfinity as a listed provider for authentication!)

Only 1 out of Showtime Channels in HD

Only 1 out of 4 Cinemax Channels in HD

  9. I'm not wasting anymore of my time or yours on this matter.  I simply asked Comcast EMPLOYEE if TCM versions offered in HD and/or SD  is due to TCM or Comcast.  He posted on Comcast's forum under topic ON DEMAND. Why? Because other Comcast customers also asked. They also inquired why Comcast has only one HBO HD channel ---------- the rest are SD. Why do they complain?  I presume because SD versions don't fill their HD screens. All PBS channels do as do all news channels: MSNBC, CNN, Fox News etc.  Aforementioned channels also have SD versions. If they did not have HD versions I can easily predict what would happen to Comcast's subscribers base i.e. CUSTOMERS.

As for the films I have all on DVD and Blu-ray and even many on VCR tapes.   Too many!

    End of matter for good.

  10. TODAY FROM MY PROVIDER CSR EMPLOYEE (also posted on website)

Apologies for the delay in responding.

I do see 59 titles available from TCM On Demand right now. Certainly, not all content from TCM is available On Demand. We provide the On Demand content (and in the format) that TCM provides to us.

TCM also provides a different offering of On Demand titles to video providers that what they offer via their Watch TCM website. http://www.tcm.com/watchtcm/films/?ecid=subnavmoviesondemand

There are other classic WB films are also available as On Demand options to rent or buy – but these WB titles are not provided by TCM On Demand.

The provider of the content is clearly labeled on each title screen.

Apologies for any confusion we may have caused.

  11. Sorry for my apparent  simplistic bizarre scenario.   I don't care if its TCM or Comcast, or theories why titles on TCM's ON DEMAND are either SD and HD or merely only SD and not HD and vice-versa.  Check the list of titles for yourself.  Some in HD or SD only makes no sense TO ME.

In closing, and in comparison to TCM merely go to Premium channels:  HBO ON Demand , Showtime ON Demand, Starz and MAX and you will see each title offered in SD and HD versions.

Please don't waste your valuable time protracting this bizarre scenario of which I sincerely apologize.

    END OF MATTER!

  12.

MONKEY  BUSINESS (1931) aired Wednesday July 11 but STILL only SD version is in ON DEMAND UNTIL JULY 18.  I just tried to watch but impossible due to too small (postage stamp)

PLEASE DOWNLOAD THE HD VERSION.  IF NOT, WHY NOT?

  13. Thanks. I've already reported to Comcast.  They are investigating. Already passed from one CSR to another replies:

Thank you for the reply, I have reviewed the examples you provided and see that most of these titles are being offered by other content providers like Sony and Warner Bros via Video on Demand. This leads me to believe that TMC doesn't have the rights to provide these through Video on Demand, but I am going to research further to make sure that is correct.

Hi Stephan. I'm responding on behalf of Phil. I've sent your examples over to our On Demand support team. They'll review all of these examples and provide answers. I'll let you know once they have something definitive.

Thanks again.  They too have redesigned their site and its a hassle.
