Are you against colorization ? why or why not

I do not see what the big deal is against colorization IF you can keep the original. I have a colorized copy of CAMILLE and adore it! It was done very well. The original B&W version still exists and so what is the problem?
  2. TCM is airing some fine Garbo films today! Thankyou TCM:) She was truly, 'divine.'
  3. I too adore Doris Day! From what I have heard, she does not like to fly (I do believe it is a phobia). For those interested, she has a wonderful official website dorisday.com and often posts audios of news and thanks for her fans. Perhaps if we all pledge to donate to her worthy animal foundation, she would consider an interview with RO. ? She is truly a genuinely wonderful person:)
  4. I don't know how to upload a photo, but as I said there was a shot of the great Kate onboard the TCM Cruise in a bathing suit; it was from the 'Philadelphia Story.' I agree with the peep who ended his comment with 'Garbo.' lol Most of the classic stars were all very good actors/actresses who knew their craft. Many made bad decisions of the materials or were given not so good material to work with. Some fought harder than others, like the Grand Dame Miss Davis. We are so fortunate to have whatever we do of these untouchable stars. There are no more 'stars,' imho. Just actors and actresses. (yawn).
  5. I am completely unaware that Bette Davis is underrated. She's always in the top 2 as best actresses ever; which includes Hepburn. I know a lot of people like Stanwyck, and I am among them, I love all the classic stars, but I have caught Stanwyck 'acting' before and that's hard to shake. BTW, there was a lovely swimsuit shot huge banner of Hepburn hanging in the pool area of the TCM Cruise. She had a bathing cap on, it was lovely.

    Amazing!

You are so right! I hope you can attend the festival this year and TCM has me hooked on being a cruiser:)
  7. It's hard to believe anyone even believes that statement. I was on the TCM Cruise and just as a side note, I asked Tippi Hedren and Eva Marie Saint who their favorite classic actor or actress was or was influenced by and Tippi said 'Katherine Hepburn,' to which the entire theatre bust out in applause. Eva's was Lillian Gish and what a sweet tribute she said about the great star!

    Amazing!

The Cruise was totally awesome, but like most of the posts, I agree that it should be longer. I missed so much but it was my own fault. TCM did a wonderful job as did Sixthman. Thankyou TCM!!

    Ideas for the Cruise

I think a Karaoke night or two with the old music choices.
  10. Is anyone interested in interactive role playing on the cruise?? Bring your costumes! Is TCM taking any suggestions to make this a true once in a lifetime experience? Since we're all classic film fans, wouldn't it be great to have music of bygone eras throughout and huge posters of the stars all around the ship????
  11. I agree with you helenbaby; I'm slightly disappointed. They just aired North by Northwest and Eva Marie Saint is not my fav with Cary, he had sooo many wonderful pairings, but that's just me. I do hope they do a Garbo silent. They really could do a wonderful score for LOVE, which needs a new one badly due to the 'laughing' from the UCLA audience recorded with the current version! Really. Hope they pipe in lots of good old stuff through the speakers on board:) I'm so nostalgic. It would be fun to bring some costumes and role play in the lounges.

    Actors and charisma

Gable had it in spades like Elvis. Garbo was so divine she was in a class of her own. I found Irene Dunne incredibly charming with no explaination. Like Kate Hepburn said about 'star quality' - it's some kind of energy and she had it. LOL Some I find lack it with me anyway like Grace Kelly, Burt Lancaster and I suppose others. But maybe it's just a matter of taste.

    Why I don't like 30's movies

I'm with you MRoberts! Is the person who started this thread serious?? wow.

    Programming Ideas

That's awesome! I think it would be a good idea for us to think of some things to do that TCM may not be able to do. For instance, I think everyone should bring at least one outfit to dress from a particular era, say the 20s, 30s or 40s and we can try to co-ordinate some time to do a mystery type party in the lounges. I wanna be Dietrich! ha.
