People should be allowed to refuse service based on actions they don't agree with rather than on identity, especially actions that clearly fly in the face of the Categorical Imperative. Disagreeing with personal choices is different than disagreeing with a skin color and should be treated differently. As for Conscientious Objectors, they are refusing to serve or defend their nation in wartime. Luckily, we had enough men in WWII but what if Germany had invaded the US with the Objectors refusing to fight?

I support the natural gender roles but Wayne was certainly not an A actor. Stagecoach and Red River are two of my favorite westerns though.

Women also used to go around with flowers (roses, I believe) and hand them out to men not in the war. This was a way of shaming them.

The Media Has Been Hijacked Two-stroke regimes are “one-story” states. They have a single narrative which its citizens accept as true, or are required to think is true. Two-stroke regimes are closest to the generic Orwellian model. They are “efficient, but unstable” and require repression. The four-stroke regime, by contrast, is a “two-story state” that prefers “soft illusion” to repression:

If Trump just acted in a better manner there would be no whistleblower and none of this would be happening.
  13. I agree with you that he talks about Trump too much but I agree with him at the end of the review where he mentions the movie is about people with mental illness and how society treats them and then brings up real instances like Columbine. Overall, I agreed with what he said.

yes, climate change is a fact German authorities say Mercedes may have manipulated emissions readings on hundreds of thousands of vans Daimler may have to recall 260,000 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans, Bild reported Sunday. German regulators are asking questions of the automaker, alleging it may have cheated the emissions readings. The questions are the latest in increased scrutiny of automaker's self-reported tests by prosecutors. German automaker Daimler is facing questions about the possible illegal manipulation of diesel emission readings, focused on its popular Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans. Bild newspaper reported Sunday that Germany's KBA vehicle regulatory authority has written the company warning that 260,000 Sprinters, sold up until 2016, may be affected. Daimler confirmed to the dpa news agency that the KBA has scheduled a hearing to address the issue, which Bild said would likely lead to a recall. The Stuttgart-based automaker last month was fined 870 million euros ($957 million) by city prosecutors over the certification of diesel cars whose emissions didn't comply with regulatory requirements. That fine isn't likely to have an impact on the company's third-quarter earnings, Daimler said. The fine and questions about the Sprinter vans are the latest in a years long saga between German prosecutors and automakers. Earlier this year, Volkswagen's chief executive and chairman were both charged with market manipulation relating to the automaker's allegedly rigged engines.

Fetih 1453, Faruk Aksoy, Turkey (2012) -4/10 - Erdoganist propaganda action movie about the "heroic" siege of Constantinople by the Ottomans. At first, the siege is a failure but then Sultan Mehmet is visited by his dead father in his dream who assures him Mohammed has ordained the Turks would take the city. The worst thing about this film is the terrible CGI. It doesn't even try to look real and is literally like 95% of the movie. I can only think of a handful of scenes without CGI. The script is corny and includes tons of cliches. One martyr even says "tell my wife and children I love them" as he dies. I had to roll my eyes at that. There are also some lame romantic subplots in this that add nothing as are common in these types of movies. The Vatican and Orthodox christians are the main villains here with scenes showing Crusaders slaughtering muslim women and children for no reason and Greek christians hanging Turk POWs over the side of a wall (forget how unlikely that would be in real life as they wouldn't want retaliation). The soundtrack is generic foreign near eastern stuff you would hear on an History Channel documentary about the region. The only good thing I can really think of are the costumes. They looked decent. The sultaness actress was also pretty, though she is only in the first half of the film. Overall, it is cheap, historically inaccurate, action movie, muslim propaganda. Avoid.

Martin Scorsese says Marvel movies are 'not cinema' Samuel L. Jackson Responds to Martin Scorsese’s Marvel Comments Samuel L. Jackson has responded to Martin Scorsese’s comments that Marvel films aren’t real cinema. “I mean that’s like saying Bugs Bunny ain’t funny. Films are films. Everybody doesn’t like his stuff either,” Jackson told Variety‘s Angelique Jackson at the grand opening of Tyler Perry’s new studio in Atlanta, Ga. “Everybody’s got an opinion, so I mean it’s okay. Ain’t going to stop nobody from making movies.” Jackson’s comments were in response to an interview Scorsese gave Empire magazine, in which “The Irishman” filmmaker likened the superhero films to theme parks. “I don’t see them. I tried, you know? But that’s not cinema,” Scorsese said. “Honestly, the closest I can think of them, as well made as they are, with actors doing the best they can under the circumstances, is theme parks. It isn’t the cinema of human beings trying to convey emotional, psychological experiences to another human being.” Earlier on the carpet, Jackson praised Perry, the evening’s man of the hour, calling him both “a real one” and “a real anomaly.” “Everybody has dreams about things they want to do and what they hope to accomplish. Tyler has been one of those visionaries that taps into his visions and makes them happen,” Jackson said. “And that’s amazing. Everybody doesn’t have that acumen.” The Marvel actor also shared his surprise that his Nick Fury alter ego hasn’t made an appearance in the “Black Panther” futuristic city of Wakanda; although he hopes that changes soon. “How did Nick Fury not end up in Wakanda?,” Jackson said. “I’m sure he’s been there, at least to the club.”

Martin Scorsese says Marvel movies are 'not cinema'

This is what I meant mostly. Scorsese's films have emotion and say something about humanity that the popcorn superhero films jist don't have. That's what I meant by the art comment.

All of the Godzilla movies have English versions but TCM tries to present them the way they were originally released.

    Changing name of Army posts

I like the implication that Vietnam was less controversial than the Civil War so renaming it after a Vietnam vet is better than after a Condederate one. It's really just more identity politics as they want it named after a hispanic.
