  1. Judy Garland became a movie star, as she deserved to be. But what a price she paid. Her childhood was consumed by Show Biz. Chronic addiction to prescription drugs and alcohol. Five disastrous marriages. Breakdowns starting as early as 1947 which required hospitalization. Her death at 47. Was it worth it? What does it say about the studio system that created these musicals that it destroyed one of its biggest stars?

    Judy Garland

This week, I have been watching the Judy Garland, Mickey Rooney movies on TCM with great interest. Up until this point, I had no idea of the real magnitude of her stardom, or her exquisite presence on the big screen. I had always considered Judy Garland as a wonderful talent, but until now, I really did not dig deep into her mystique, her sensuality and her overall charm on the screen. Thanks TCM for bringing great movies to all, and allowing the true movie giants to once again be seen!
  3. Hello, everyone I think in another Minnelli film or two, I've seen this woman featured prominently in Meet Me In St. Louis. I can't find anything on her. She's featured in the foreground in several of the most popular songs. In this image (not a good ), she's in the lower right of the screen. I can't find a good shot of her online, even though she appears throughout most of the film Does anyone know who she is/was? Pat
