Actually, my screen name is a take-off on my actual last name. But, if it gives you happy memories of your childhood, glad to oblige!

I don't really know that much about baseball, but Sandy Koufax and I are both lefties. Other than that, we probably don't have much else in common.

I'm sorry. I can't see your name without thinking of Sandy Koufax, my boyhood athletic hero.

I seem to remember several years ago that Demi Moore wore the Gilda dress to some sort of Hollywood event. How could there be two originals? Unless Moore's gown was a copy...the plot thickens.

It's even listed as Original/Reproduction.

It's so badly listed that no one will possibly be taken in, no fear.

Yes, but the fool offers "Free Ground Shipping". How can you pass up a steal like that. I'm sure he'll be there to answer any questions after you buy it....I've got my opening bid in. $1.85

Let's see... a seller with zero feedback, and bidding starts at $30,000. Yeah, that should turn out well.

eBay find: Rita Hayworth’s screen-worn black satin dress from Gilda (1946)

While sniffing around exciting movie memorabilia lots on eBay, we rarely come across many screen-used wardrobe items that are over 30 years old, now add another ten years, and another, and another, and you’re getting close, for this week’s eBay find is a staggering 63 years old and is just as desirable and gorgeous now as it was then. Introducing the iconic black satin dress as worn by Tinseltown’s ‘love goddess’ Rita Hayworth in her most memorable film role, that of femme fatale Gilda in the 1946 noir classic of the same name. This is old school Hollywood glamour on a whole new scale…

Considered cinema’s hottest pin-up during the 40s, Hayworth positively smoldered on the silver screen in Gilda, performing an erotic one glove strip tease as she sang “Put the Blame on Mame”, radiating killer sex appeal at a time of incredibly strict censorship in films. And now the very dress that she shimmied in to such devastatingly gorgeous effect can be yours.

The dress bears an inside tag that belies its showbiz roots, reading “Columbia Pictures” and the wearer’s name, that of the former Margarita Carmen Cansino is hand printed, “Rita Hayworth”. It’s described by the seller as being in “perfect” condition – even the hand stitching – though the zipper has been relocated from the side to the back of the glamorous garment. It is the handiwork of Jean Louis, the Oscar-winning costume designer at Columbia Pictures who also created stunning onscreen pieces for other legendary leading ladies such as Joan Crawford (Queen Bee), Marlene Dietrich (The Monte Carlo Story and Judgment at Nuremberg) and Marilyn Monroe (The Misfits, the never completed Something’s Got To Give and her sheer dress when singing “Happy Birthday Mr President” to John F. Kennedy in 1962).

Hayworth-worn dresses can claim thousands when sold at auction – the satin nightgown she wore for her famous World War II pin-up pics fetched a whopping $26,888 when sold by Sotheby’s in 2002 – and this one looks likely to follow suit. And if its Golden Age of Hollywood movie credentials aren’t enough, how’s about some more modern ones as this gown has also been donned by Demi Moore to the opening of the Beverly Hills branch of the Planet Hollywood restaurant chain she pioneered with former husband Bruce Willis and his muscly movie peers Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

There are still over six days left to run on the auction, so be sure to check it
