I saw this movie when I was a little kid, all I could remember was the singing at the end about the "sewing machine". While checking out the movies on TCM, I saw this heading, recorded it and lov and behold, it was the right movie. My only question throughout the movie was, how did they keep their matches and cigarettes dry? As much as they jumped in the water. I got a big kick out of it, and really like the movie.

Very good movie. This was an inspiration for Jarmusch's DOWN BY LAW (1986). Obviously it didn't have the social implications of a Kramer production, but there are direct parallels into the dysfunctional relationship between Portier/Curtis and Waits/Lurie.

This is another really good movie with Tony Curtis and Sidney Poitier.
I am a big fan of SidneyPoitier .In The Heat Of The Night is a classic it doesn't get any better when you watch the scene between Rod Stieger and SidneyPoitier where Rod Stieger is asking Sidney where he makes that kind of money . .Rod Stieger's gum chewing is pretty amusing as well. There is some movies thatSidneydid with Bill Cosby back in the early 70's Do It Again and the other one I have forgotten but great chemistry between these two actors
