For years I always touted I saw the three strip version of how the west was won,way back in 1963 ,Dallas Texas,at a cinerma theater called the Capri.I had a faint remembering of seeing a curved screen and a women with a short skirt and boots wearing a red cowboy hat and holding a flash light taking us to our seats,me my mother and my two brothers and my dad.Years later I would see the panavsion version at the drive in theater ,where I lived, the mongomery drive in theater ,in 64.This version the film ended the prescots leaving for the ranch. It did not show the travalog.I was not aware that this had included the modern ending, unitl I saw it scan pan on t.b.s .I was surpriced.I was wondering why the ending wa shorten for regular theaters.I would see it again at the ultravison theater,The montogmery mall theater ,in Montgmery A.l.a.This was a chain of theaters with a 70mm curved screen.opend in 71.The reissued verison of this is cinerama never played here.I saw the 70mm sphere verison of How's.For a couple of years they would reissue this, along with D.r. Zhivago and G.w.t.w. and Ryans Daughter.Well recently I discovered tha the version I saw at Dallas,Melba's Capri, was the 70mm sphere version, not the three strip. They had remove their three projeciton booth in 58,they shrunk their 146 degree screen to 120 degree in 61 and one booth. So I never really saw the three strip verison after all
