Rocco's subtitles were all there, but so close to the bottom, that if your TV has any overscan, they would be cut off. 5% overscan, +-2% is common. Few TVs will let you adjust this yourself. Mine won't, but I do have a component>S-Video converter, for making DVDs, that has a underscan adjustment, so I can see the subs.

If you are using a DVI or HDMI input, your TV may have a special setting for a computer, which will show the entire image, but with a little black border on all four sides. That would show the subs, in their entirety. Try that, if you can.

On the HD version of TCM both Rocco and Autumn Sonata had the subtitles cut off since the version shown seems to have been letterboxed originally and zoomed in. Autumn was still readable but Rocco wasn't.

This doesn't air during TCM Imports but it's enormously important...

December 14th - The highly significant Japanese silent film A Page of Madness will be shown. There is no official video edition of this, even in Japan, and to my knowledge this is the first time it's showed up in an English-language country on television.
