If God is upset, he will send a "Hurricane Jake" type of storm.
Get him mad then there is a hypercane with its winds theorised to be 500 mph. Maybe that one could be called Hurricane Rhett.

But Sandy is simply raw nature when seperate storm fronts collide.

........or, in the words of Brian Wilson (or, whoever was his lyricist on that song), "God Only Knows".

I have often heard it said that God must really hate trailer houses because they are the target of choice of tornadoes.

I have heard scientists answer the question: "What will the weather be like a month from today?" by saying: "Only God knows".

I do not know how it associates when my esso said this morning that there was never weather like this when there was a Republican President.

I ain't touchin' the God thing . . . but I will say that it's snowin' and blowin' here in South Jersey. My car looks like it's icing up in the driveway. Time to move it into the barn.

Good excuse to cuddle under the blue quilt with a cup of tea and watch TCM . . .

I have seen that there is now a new weather advisory warning cautioning high winds and high seas.

What did those people do to make God so mad at them?

I wasn't generalizing but its my fault I didn't post that correctly. I was referring to those who chose to help the victims. ALL of the runners? That would be wishful thinking, the news is more likely downplaying the overall reaction.

You can't generalize about "the" marathon runners. From having been a member of that community, I'm sure that many were very serious runners who were pointing for the race and care about little else.

What I have seen on the news the marathon runners are not upset, maybe a little disappointed. Many are volenteering in the relief efforts. A very mature group with very good charactor, rare in this day of age with so much selfishness.

This disaster shows how many people (victims) are not ready to deal with such events. They don't prepare for emergencies and evacuate when told to do so.

Anyone watching NBC's "Evolutuion"? Imagine being without power for months or years! Yes such a disastor can happen. Super CME's needs to be taken seriously, not crossing ones fingers HOPING it won't happen in our lifetime.

World without power....that will be a good day to be Amish. (or a doomsday preper)

But people being people, I can expect this from some.

Power hardly ever goes out in the city of Philadelphia. Toasting PECO.

I agree.. But it was just stubbornness on Bloomberg's part, then to call it off with just 2 days notice. Better to have a plan B to announce at the 7 days prior to the marathon event.

Good leaders practice contingencies. Did they not have a Plan B at all? Maybe there will be more contingency thinking going on in the Mayor's office. Considering the history of NYC, I find it surprising.

How is getting back to full power and communication and transportation going so far? I wonder. I hope they are getting back a speedier pace now.

In my town in Southwestern CT, we almost managed to ride it out. But the power went out Tuesday night, after the storm had moved off. We just got it back today. No significant damage to my house, but I captured this shot about 2 miles away:

Drove by the house again today and the tree was gone. Looks like the roof only had minimal damage. About 15% still without power in my town. My girlfriend in Westchester County NY may not get her power back until Monday.
