Vincent: . . . I want you to know how it really was.
Irene: I know how it was. . (music in background playing, Too Wonderful for Words) . Do I hear music?
Vincent: Yes, I picked it out on the jukebox.
Irene: You didn't call just to tell me about Madge. There's something else you want me to know.
Vincent: I never could fool you, could I? I'm just beginning to realize that it's better to have something to look forward to. Can you get a map of South America?
Irene: I'll find one.
Vincent: Look up Peru. There's a little town on the coast called Peyeta. Say it. Tell me where it is.
Irene: Peyeta, in Peru.
Vincent: Good. Now listen, I won't write. We've got to wait, we've got to give it plenty of time. Maybe they'll get a lead on you--maybe they'll keep an eye on you for a while--
Irene: --I'll be careful. Go on...
Vincent: Meanwhile, if God's good to me, and I manage to make it down there, I'll be waiting for you. There's a little cafe right on the bay, . . . If you could see your way clear. -- Listen to all those "ifs"..
Irene: We'll skip all the ifs. I get the idea, and that's all I need. . . Now, hang up on me. Just like that. Hang up, darling.
(and Vincent hangs up)

Mcqueen in Towering Inferno-"When there's a fire I outrank everybody here!" and Mcqueen in Le Mans-"Racing is life, anyhting before or after is just waiting." Cagney in Angels with Dirty Faces- "You turned out to be a pretty snappy looking dish, for a sociable worker." I know of many more. I'll have to come back and post again another time

One of my favs: George Raft and Ann Sheridan on the phone in "They Drive by Night".
Raft:"Do you believe in love at first sight?" Sheridan: "Well, It saves a lot of time."

slaytonf is correct. I was referencing the movie script, not the historic trial. Bad proofreading; thanks for the correction.

Spencer Tracy's character was named Henry Drummond, which was intended as an emulation of Clarence Darrow.
