Mrs. Pike: How long has she been in America?
Sir Alfred McGlennan Keith: Three days.
Mrs. Pike: Three days, and to meet Horace right away. . . .How did she come over?, I didn't know the boats were running.
Sir Alfred: Battleship.
Mrs. Pike: Battleship?
Sir Alfred: Weell, actually, a cruiser.
Mrs. Pike: Then she must be very, very---
Sir Alfred: Oh, very !

She's never forgiven me for Ingrid Bergman.
What a great line in itself!

Since I love Nora Ephron, of course I would enjoy her parents' work

Desk Set is one of my favorites, I love the way it is capturing a wonderful space and time, And I love the setting being Christmas, as celebrated by single people. It is a wonderful movie. Thanks for the comment. Do you have a favorite line?

DESK SET

(1957)

I'm crazy about that movie. I've watched it probably 100 times and I'll do so again, just to watch Spencer Tracy being silly and improvising and making Hepburn and Blondell crack up in the apartment scene.

Henry Ephron, who wrote the movie with his wife Phoebe, said Spencer was talking to Phoebe one day a little flirtatiously, leaning against the wall beside her, and Hepburn came by and said very severely, "Spencer, you're wanted on the set." She walked away, and he looked after her and sighed, and said, "She's never forgiven me for Ingrid Bergman."

Peg: When, as and if Mike Cutler asks you, do yourself a favor and be busy. That's why he always waits till the last minute--he knows your're always there.
Bunny: You mean I'm too available?
Peg: Available? You're like an old coat that's hanging in his closet. Every time he reaches in, there you are. . . Don't be there once.
Bunny: He'd just go out and buy himself a new coat..
Peg: He's been wearing this one for seven years. What makes you think he won't anyway?
Bunny: Well, if he did, it . . . that would be awful, wouldn't it?
Peg: Yes, it is.. I know. You go along thinking tomorrow something wonderful's gonna happen. You are not going to be alone anymore. Then one day you realize it's all over. . . You're out of circulation. It all happened, and you didn't even know when it happened.
Bunny: Well, when that day comes, We'll move in together and keep cats.
Peg: I don't like cats. I like men, and so do you!

I just got an e-mail from AFI which has a "screen test" game in which you match quotes with the movie it comes from. All have been on TCM so it's no wonder I got all 12 right. This is the address and magazine title if you want to find it and play.
