You told the story exactly right. :) Mickey looked like he was capable of killing someone as he told that story. It was frightening.

The Private Screenings with Mickey Rooney really flew by. The incident that got him so worked up in the interview occurred on the set of Killer McCoy. The target of his wrath was director Roy Rowland. If it happened as Mickey said it did, I could understand his anger.

Rooney was fascinating to listen to. He remembered working with the likes of Will Rogers, Marie Dressler and Jean Harlow. He liked Louis B. Mayer and thought he wasn't nearly as bad as so many have said. He didn't seem to care much for Dore Schary though.

Robert Osborne was really only able to touch on a few things in Rooney's long career. I wonder if he would be up for another interview, and if Mr. Osborne would be willing to do it. :)

GG, you gotta love The Mick!!!!
I loved that interview, it is one of my all-time favorite interviews on TCM. Second was with Bob Mitchum. I love RO, but sometimes it's best to be with someone who delivers what is not expected.

From what I saw, Mickey was talking about a producer who called him on an issue while shooting a movie. The name of either escapes me. Mickey got embarrassed and, I'd venture to guess by his expression and body language, mad when the producer chastised in front of everyone on the set. While telling the story, Mickey, or so it appeared to me, was reliving the moment. lol With the most evil of looks, on that once upon a time cherub face, he moved to the edge of his seat grimacing and with a dead stare at Bob, who looked like a deer caught in headlights at this point, continued his story of how he grabbed the producer by the lapels and put him in his place, in no uncertain terms, before he walked off the set.

Oh, Bob's questions to him was, how did the rumor start that he was hard to work with. lol Bob looked liked he was made of stone by the time Mickey went into his full rant. lol

It was not pretty. I can feel for Bob and why he got scared. lol

Unfortunately I missed what "scared the hell" out of our Bob O during the interview with Mickey Rooney. I fell asleep...without recording it. Anybody know?
