Thank you, Dothery for this picture of Mustin. It is amazing to me how little he changed from young man to old. I can recognize him easily in the picture you posted. And all the info on Walter Brennan is interesting, too. I love this kind of information.

I had English Lit as a minor in college - took a whole course in Shakespeare. Yet, I can't tell you anymore about it than the basic stuff everybody knows. But, you ask me about classic cinema or television trivia, and I can tell you all kinds of information. I remember things from movies that my aunt took me to see when I was a child of six years old. I can remember watching Mr. Peepers, Ernie Kovacks, Your Show Of Shows, and Life Of Riley with my parents. I can remember plays that I watched on the Armstrong Circle Theater and Playhouse 90. I guess it all comes down to what you really enjoy and I always loved show business.

I'm in Australia (asleep when most of these replies are posted) I thought it was
Glen, but the straight black hair from the back made me think of a young Robert Wagner
but looking again Glen is a little more "solid" than Robert at this stage (sorry Glen).

I found a little tiny picture of a young Burt Mustin ... what the uniform is, I couldn't tell you. Your post was interesting to me because my mother's boss, a congressman (Billy Connery) was Brennan's first cousin. Their mothers were sisters, and both men grew up in my home town. Billy was an actor on stage before his political career began.

I remember reading that Brennan spent some time in Central America raising pineapples before he began acting. He was a rover at heart when he was young.

I totally agree with you, Eugenia. I have never seen a picture of a young Bea Arthur before and am delighted with the photo. But a photo of a young Burt Mustin would be really something. He always played the part of an old man in any movie or TV show I ever watched, kind of like Walter Brennan. But Mustin was a lot older than Brennan when he died. I will have to look him up on TCMDb to see what I can find out about him.

I couldn't find out much on TCMDb probably because Mustin didn't do many film roles. He was much more into TV supporting roles. But, there is one big difference regarding age when you talk about Mustin and Brennan that I need to point out, since I am the one who brought up Brennan in the first place.

Mustin didn't start acting until age 67 whereas, Brennan was in his 30's. So Mustin didn't really start appear until he was practically an "old" man. And of course, there is the fact that Brennan was far more accomplished with 3 Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actor.
