Well, I don't know who her husband was, but Cammie King, who played Bonnie Blue Butler, the daughter of Scarlett and Rhett, did only one other movie a few years later and that was as the voice of a character in Walt Disney's "Bambi" She later became the step-daughter of Herbert Kalmus, the founder of the Technicolor Company. His first wife, Natalie Kalmus, probably has more screen credits than anyone else. She was listed as the "Technicolor Supervisor" for all movies using Technicolor for many years. In 1948, when Herbert was about to marry Cammie King's mother, Natalie named the corporation as co-defendant in an alimony suit. It's amazing what you can find with a little research.

This lady was in a singular class of women--

She made of movie debut in "The" classic Hollywood movie and then, more or less retired. Her husband helped to create modern TV.

Jock Mahoney had started as a stunt man. -- He had doubled for the likes of John Wayne, Roy Rogers, etc. X Brands ("Pahoo") was not an Amerind, but he made a living playing such roles (sort of like Iron Eyes Cody).

The series was popular, and it was profitable, so the network (CBS) wanted to own it. The owners, Mahoney and the writers, did not want to sell. So they were canceled. Simple as that. I wonder how many times something like that has happened.

cujas' thread.

♫ They sing of Yancy Derringer on every danger trail...
On riverboat, in manor house, and now and then in jail...♫
♫ They say that Yancy Derringer had ruffles at his wrist,
Brocades and silver buckles, and iron in his fist...♫

He had small pistols hidden in his hat and in other unexpected places. His sidekick "Pahoo" had a shotgun, I think a 10 gauge, that could blow limbs off trees. They also had a regular circus act with knives: The man with the knife would toss it to the man who needed it. The second man would catch it without getting hurt, then would throw, slice, etc, whatever was needed.

I guess I stretched it a bit, calling two Tarzan flicks a "series." Yancy Derringer was on CBS, and it was a Desilu production. Do you know the circumstances that caused the cancellation?

Flash--"Yancy Derringer"--aka Jock Mahoney is what I come up with. Seems like he also played Tarzan.

Thanks. Luck and timing; I have had circumstances a few times to piggyback a question, as you did. Next up:

1950 TV series, very popular, 30 min episodes. Canceled, in spite of popularity and good ratings. The star had a previous series, and he had a bigscreen series that followed this cancellation. Story timing was post Civil War, and this was one of those programs that had a weapons gimmick.

Series? Reason for cancellation?

Trying again, lavender; perhaps I was being too cagey for my own good. I have purchased, but have not yet read, Susan Strasberg's Marilyn and Me. Have it laid aside until I can devote some time and attention to it. Briefly, my question is: Did the conversation you describe involve Susan Strasberg and Marilyn Monroe? It sounds like it could have, but I don't have time to scan page-by-page right now.

There's a story about how a famed actress was staying at a friends apartment and was up early one morning and stood nude looking out a window. The friend who owned the apartment looked at her friend and said something to the effect that she envied her beautiful body. The friend answered back, oh no I wish I looked more like you. She also basically said she wished she was her friend (the apt owner) instead of herself.
Who were the 2 friends who were both actresses??

...and she was still on Broadway as Anne Frank at the time of that 18th birthday celebration. Her description (in her autobiography Bittersweet) of the married Burton's courtship or her is quite droll.

Beautiful, talented and tragic (died of breast cancer at the age of 60) Susan Strassberg. Ms. Strassberg and Richard Burton had an affair while appearing in the the play Time Remembered and Helen Hayes strongly disapproved of their affair.

The actress' father was widely famous as an innovative teacher of acting technique. Many famous and honored members of the profession had studied under him. Her mother was both and actress and a teacher of some note.
