McAfee offered the same thing for $49.99. Apparently Fios can't do the math.
Those are both a WASTE of money, especially considering both Norton and McAfee are known notorious resource/system hogs (trust me...I'ved used both in the past).

There are many FREE programs online which are better and LIGHTER...I personally use AVG Antivirus myself. Have had NO problems with it for many years now. Norton and McAfee are vastly overrated.

I didn't know this was even on the table. It might help those currently being robbed by Time Warner and Comcast, or whichsoevercrook buys Cablevision:

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-01-02/cablevision-entices-buyers-with-lowest-value-on-record-real-m-a.html

True, the article is from January, but one never knows, do one?

I sure would love to make that call to the crooks at FIOS, since I'm guessing the crooks at TW/CV or CC/CV would be oh so anxious to steal the FIOS customers with wonderfully generous fake deals. :)

Cool, Floyd. Good for you for being on the alert. My prices doubled after the expiration period.

IF they don't fix a glitch (take note if you have it) that's been in existence since April 1st, I may be going to Cablevision. Since they've updated their software (it wasn't broke, they didn't need to fix it, but they did it anyway) there is no 'Resume Play' when watching On Demand. You can google it to see all of the comments from angry customers. When you return to a movie or teevee show that you've paused, it restarts rather than going back to the point where you paused. GUESS how annoying that is for impatient people? X-(

I decided to call yesterday and the rep said it is a known issue - hah, I thought he (non-American call center of course) said NON issue and almost bit his head off. He said, and I quote, they are 'working on it'.

Quite a whiz-bang company, don't you think? Break something that worked before you broke it, and now you can't restore it to what it was after a MONTH!

Good luck, Floyd, I think you'll need it. Keep us posted.

I had Fios installed on April 30. No problems at all, very smooth installation.
Of course Fios has a 24 month promotion so I plan to keep an eye on expiration dates.
Called Comcast and Vonage to cancel services. I think I will be saving about $80.00.
Went to the Comcast drop off location to drop off the modem, cable boxes and remotes.

But there should be more choices than one or two cable providers.

Boy, you said it! Never gonna happen though. Time Warner is within spitting distance of Westchester, but politicially, they might as well be on the Arctic Circle.

THIS should be the major complaint about cable

It is mine, has been since 1982, when Cablevision had the monopoly on Westchester. Then came FIOS and price fixing. I'm sure IF Time Warner were allowed in, they would be forced to play by the rules too. The only good thing is that there would be a third choice to run to. But, never gonna happen.

Imagine having only one radio station! What would it broadcast?

Pretty much a fact here. I remember when CBS was taken over by a corporation, they fired Cousin Brucie in the middle of the night. He went to SIRIUS, which is another rip-off. Ditto on an oldies station, which was taken over by a corporation, which fired all the on-air personalities and replaced the music with canned stuff out of Salt Lake City, then one day it was alternative brain dead music. And that was that.

AFAIK, there are two rock and roll stations in NY, and a few in CT. That's IT. Sick world.

This is why it's a good thing to be given choices. But there should be more choices than one or two cable providers. Or the choice between cable or NOT.

Imagine having only one radio station! What would it broadcast? Or only one TV station. What would we all be watching? One genre of music. One brand of coffee. One kind of candy bar. This could go on and on. I HATE when I read someone who claims, "We can only get Comcast where I live". Doesn't MATTER the company...it's just plain WRONG! I said I have WOW. My other options are Comcast, Dish or Direct TV. A wider choice, sure. But not much. Not when it's considered that I can go to the market and choose between seven different brands of ice cream. Or 10 brands of laundry soap. Or pick one of 100 different restaraunts to dine at.

THIS should be the major complaint about cable. Or at least one of the choices of complaints...

And again, why the name calling?

Comcast is a corporation, just another greedy corporation.

The majority of people hate their cable companies, you are one of very, very, very few (I'll be generous and say there are a couple of others) who had a good experience with their arrogant, imperious customer service.

Once the sales department is done with you, the CS of most (not all, it seems) cable companies couldn't care less how many branches of the telephone tree you have to go through to get to them, or if you are hung up upon while being transferred, or if their only response to you is to offer you more expensive products, and they all do it. Whether you are speaking to 'Gregory' in India or Bob in the U.S., they all read from the same script.

But okey dokey artichokey, let's just say Comcast has a miniscule amount (even though they engender websites from people who hate them) of happy customers.

When I was growing up we had a landline rotary phone, radio and tv.

Our telephone was in the entrance to the building. It sat on a cabinet so tall that I could not reach it until I was nearly twelve. I believe they could not run wires to the apartments because it would damage the walls.

The television I remember most was in the laundry room. I still smell bleach each time I begin to watch a cartoon. The antenna was secured with tape and wire to a statue outside the window. I was in my teens when we moved back and found that the people who had the apartment while we were away had run a wire for an antenna on the roof so that is when we had our first television.

What is your problem? This is the second thread in which I've found smart-arsed replies from you.

Okay, "that makes one" person who has spoken up....that's hardly an indication that MORE people have had problems or complaints about Comcast's service. That just indicates there ARE people out there who have never had any such problems...even though only "one" has spoken up here on the boards.

You neglect to mention that, unlike DVD's, which have compressed audio, Blu-rays can reproduce the full dynamic range of recorded audio. Comparing the two, it's like night and day.
A nitpicking point. Big deal...and either way, Blu discs don't always have uncompressed audio. I have several which only have Dolby Digital audio, which is a compressed format. Honestly, I have good hearing and can barely tell the difference between the two.
