Fred, my article was in response to yours because I didn't want anyone thinking yours was in any way real. I went to the same fake headline creating website you did. But I was surprised that yours wasn't there after a few hours. I figured that maybe you just copied and pasted it, rather than linking it to a place like flickr.com, and that was why it vanished. I wasn't happy with its removal because then people didn't get the real joke of mine looking exactly like yours, showing you were just ranting again.

LOL, yes, it's funny. Someone removed my newspaper clipping. I posted one first.
Mine was just as funny.

Anyway, how long are we going to have to look at the same blondes shaking their fannies
over and over again,
while thesame lousy music plays. I'd rather see Alice White in lace
underwear in a pre-code film.

Filmlover, it WOULD amaze me if the people in these films WERE in their 50's. I'm willing to bet the rent that most of them are in their 70's! A lot of these movies are on average 45 years old! Ya gotta figure the cast members were probably pushing 30 but playing younger when they were made. Hell, I went to see them when I was an early teen( 13 and 14 ), and I'M 60!!

Sepia, go back and check it again. You read it wrong.

Hilarious! Susbstitute Pink Floyd for Ted Nugent, and that could be me. I'd like to see the rest of the article.

Stephen444, is THAT what it is, a coastal thing? Well, they are different out there, that's for sure.

Janet0312 said..."my only complaint is that they ought to be showing them in August."

Agreed, I'm on the east coast and I don't share the endless summer feelings of the left coast audience.

I enjoy the Beach movies, especially tonight's with Avalon and Funicello and the Beach gang. What may amaze some people is that these films are now almost 50 years old!!!!!

And, unwittingly, it makes a nice tribute since Dick Clark died this week.

Relax,
don't think the complaint's about the genre, as much as the monotonous scheduling of them

You might have thought it was a great name for a bar, but the significance of the name was probably lost on 98% of the patrons.

This thread makes me very sad.

Each and every time that the TCM staff expends extra effort to present programming that is not the same-old-same-old there are people who rise up to protest and express their detestation. It has happened with noir, foreign, animated and documentary movies and perhaps many more of which I do not know.

I fear that the staff may chose to no longer showcase any genre or aspect lest a few will complain so loudly that their voices drown out those who appreciate such efforts.

The current theme is not to my taste. That does not mean my world is coming to an end or that the programmers of TCM are in league with the anti-Christ. It does mean that I can sample a few movies I might normally not watch and I have time to do other things when there are movies which do not appeal to me.

I thank the TCM programmers for their hard work on our behalf and I hope they continue to provide schedules which are unconventional!
