Someone needs to tell The Godfather about this. ;) Or maybe not.

I wish they didn't do those exclusives like that.

I have DirecTV too, so there's nothing to worry about. The only thing I'd
miss on AMC is Mad Men. DirecTV had the same contract thing going
with WGN about a month ago. It was off for about three or four days and
then they got it straightened out.

Whatever happen to that congressional concept of cable viewers being able to select the channels that they wanted and pay for only those selections? Paying to watch infomercials and commercials that are 4 minutes long in series shows is inane. Thank you Ted, for TCM.

Certainly not a lawyer - or a politician. Even Rick Perry wouldn't be that incoherent.

No problem, I'll translate for you.

SS = self explanatory, I hope, if you know your history.

TPTB = the powers that be, i.e., the crooked execs in cable companies

The above crooks don't lower the bills after they steal our channels, they oftentimes raise them.

My point - typed slowly - it's not so much about the quality of what is removed (AMC has no quality), it is about the SS making the decisions for us. I don't watch all the channels I have, but I don't want the crooked execs in cable deciding which channels I don't need anymore because they want to pay less while charging me more.

Better? I can break it down further if you'd like.

It's more about the SS quality of TPTB deciding what their viewers will watch/have and how VERY much they'll pay NOT to watch/have what TPTB decide what they will not watch/have than in the quality (in the case of AMC, no quality) of what is removed.

WHAT? Are you a lawyer or politician? If not, you should be. I can't make heads or tails of what you said.

There is no accounting for the lack of taste of the American people right now, but I'll defend to the ... well, the loudest I can shout on an internet board ... their right to see it.

With what passes for entertainment these days being one step above watching "real" people bang their heads against the wall and drool,

NOW you've done it. BRAVO will soon be announcing their new show and viewers everywhere will love it. Of course it will be called: Head Bangers.

Ahh, I see.

Not exactly movies though, are they. Maybe AMC should change its moniker to ASC. I don't watch any of those because I can't take that AMC bug or the busy screen intrusions.

I mean, AMC kinda sucks. Censored, interrupted, unceasingly bugged. Why in the world is it so popular?

It's not because of the movies that air on AMC or the reruns of CSI: Miami.

It's because of it's popular original programming like Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Hell on Wheels, The Killing and it's most popular show, The Walking Dead.

That's why AMC's numbers are growing.

I have DISH network and the loss of those channels doesn't bother me. The only movie channel I have to have is TCM and the sports channels to carry the Atlanta Braves among other things.

If I lose those, I'll seek out Direct TV.

For people who like Mad Men for example it hurts though.

You said it. Apparently - and unbelievably - AMC is a top 20 cable channel. With what passes for entertainment these days being one step above watching "real" people bang their heads against the wall and drool, I'm glad we have TCM and will have no use for cable if it ever goes away or changes format.
