Steven Seagal causes me to have that reaction. Of course, these days he looks as if anything other than a grunt is exhausting for him. But he does prove that even Orson Welles could have been an action hero.

While I was watching this movie, I kept thinking that in parts it resembled of the Jack Webb film THE D I . While this movie was mildly entertaining, I would much rather have watched THE D I .

Totally agree there, finance. That was probably THE most "confused" movie ever made!

I mean, was it supposed to be a Comedy, a Romance, a Drama, or WHAT?! Whatever genre or genres it was supposd to be or mixed as, none of 'em clicked at all. And, as much as I've always like Daws Butler voice, there was really no reason to at all to have him narrating this thing throughout.

Gotta say though, this film is example one of that often mentioned fact that Natalie Wood sure never appeared to go through that "awkward adolescent" stage, as so many other child actors have. Oooh-wee, was she ever a cutie in this one.

Btw, I did the math, and I couldn't believe David Janssen was only 25 years old when he played the Captain. He looked a lot older than that there. Of course, this could be one of the reasons the guy died at the "ripe young" age of only 48. Maybe he started at a very young age trying to out-drink William Holden!

I watched part of the film in which they got into the details of military base operations. Pure dreck.

I know there was an episode of MASH that had a character stuck in a minefield.

A movie I haven't seen in a while that sounds like it might have some of the elements you describe is Mr. Winkle Goes to War.

Was on TCM late Thurs night...th more I watched I was wondering....did I see this a long time ago? No...didn't think so(more into 30's and 40's films) but the plot...the scene where Alan King freezes with the granade, and the end in particular (semi spoiler alert) where the one group accidentally gets on the firing range and Hunter has to save the day....I know I've seen that scene before, but the hero didn't get inside the tank...perhaps he was in a tank??? IMDB didn't mention it was a remake...but I keep feeling it was a remake of some B Warners film from the 40's.
Someone smart here...please tell me I'm not crazy! Or at least that I am right about this at least! ;)
