The Alfred Hitchcock Hour

They ran the one about the women on the party line over the wknd. Judy Canova gets her just reward at the end!

Some station was running a (Leave it to) Beav-r marathon yesterday. I didnt realize they moved to a bigger house during the run. The kids were talking about having their own bedrooms. Then in another episode in the new house they still were SHARING  a bedroom. Guess it only had 2 bedrooms? Sure looked big from the outside!

I noticed last night that ME-TV has changed their late night lineup, dropping The Rockford Files and replacing it with The Alfred Hitchcock Hour. That's at 1:00 AM EST.

That's the one time that I'm ususally guaranteed to be asleep.

That's the only one I can think of that Royal Dano was in, though I

believe he appeared in one or two others. It was a little bit like

Road Hog, with telephones instead of cars. I watched the Crackpot

episode over the weekend. YahooView does have commercials, but they

do run the unedited show with five minutes of ads added on.

I think Beaver switched over to the new house in the third season. The

first one was rather horizontal looking. I could never figure out why

Ward, who seemed to make a pretty decent salary, bought that compact

car when he had a family of four. He should have had a Caddy. Live it

up man.

Yes, similar plots where the person wound up getting what they dished out earlier. Funny Royal Dano was in it (I hadnt remembered)

Guess Ward was very frugal. I dont remember the earlier house, but I was so small then, not surprising. I know they kept them together so they'd have time to talk. But it was odd they had that scene in the moving episode talking about having their own bedrooms!

I can't recall for sure, but didn't they used to sleep in bunk beds in

the first house? Of course they had to be together for the purposes

of the show. I think there was one episode where they got into some

kind of argument and Beaver slept in the guest bedroom, so there was

a third bedroom. I still like Ward's study. That was one cool room.

I never watched The Virginian when it was on originally. The Inspiration

channel has been showing it on the weekends, so I've been watching

it. Monday they started showing back to back episodes starting at

midnight. I will stay up till 1:30, but not till 3:00. And who was the guest

star on the first episode last night? Hugh O'Brian in his hunky prime.

Possibly. I dont remember. I may not have watched the show from the beginning. Well from the outside that house had to have AT LEAST 3 bedrooms. You'd think Wally would've put up a stink to get his own bedroom being a teenager! LOL. I never watched The Virginian either. Too long. Wasnt it 90 minutes? I dont get the Inspiration Channel!.  Do they run inspiring programs???

The good thing about LITB is that each season had a different

opening, so you know which season the episode is from. Yes,

you would think Wally would want his own room. Maybe Ward and

June figured he might be up to something bad if he did.

I think the Inspiration channel does have religious programming on,

just not in prime time. I've noticed that they bleep out many fairly

tame words that other channels don't. The Virginian was 90 minutes

long. Having seen a lot of Bonanza and Gunsmoke episodes, one

realizes that westerns only had so many plots. The Virginian was

on for nine seasons and there were quite a lot of cast changes.

Need a scorecard to keep 'em straight.

The earlier house was the same one in House of Seven Gables.

I'll keep that in mind when watching the Beav-r reruns! I guess having Beav-r in his room kept Wally in line. Yeah, I remember the Virginian being on a long time, but never interested me. Too much time devoted to one program on a school night. Luckily for me, my parents didnt watch it either.

That TAHH episode I mentioned before with Diana Hyland and Jeremy Slate was on earlier this week and the ending still shook me up to where I couldn't sleep.  It's called Beyond the Sea of Death which is from a Christina Rosetti poem.  Mildred Dunnock is also in it.

Assuming you are a big enough Beaver fan to be able to match openings and seasons. I myself couldn't see a particular opening and say, "Ah hah! Season 4"."

All it takes is watching the episodes enough times to figure out

that each season has its own opening, and then it's easy to

match the opening with the season, especially as the boys

age over those seasons. The first one is the sidewalk opening

and the last is the family going on a picnic and everyone squeezing

into that tiny car with Beav looking out the back window. It's unusual

for a TV show to have a different opening for every season. I like

the last seasons better than the first few, where there is too much

cutesy kiddie stuff.

I've always wondered how Barbara Billingsley got top billing in that show. Hugh Beaumont had been in some movies, I dont recall seeing Barbara in anything pre or post Beav-r to rate that. Must've had a good agent.

I remember seeing her in some small supporting roles on TCM, though

I don't remember which movies. It's tough to out star someone who had

been in The Mole People. Maybe she did have a good agent or maybe

Hugh was such a gentleman he gave her top billing.
