Midnight Movies: From the Margin to the Mainstream

3 posts in this topic

Just watched this documentary and very educational.  I had never even heard of "El Topo".  And then 5 other films examined.  Definitely some movies I want to look for.  Like they said, it is the audience that creates the cult.

I like El Topo. I had heard about it and read about it for years, but didn't see it for the first time until about 5 years ago. It ranks in my top ten favorite films of 1970.

I just looked the documentary up to see what other films they mentioned. Here they are for anyone interested:

Night of the Living Dead (1968)

Pink Flamingos (1972)

The Harder They Come (1973)

The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975)

Eraserhead (1977)

I've seen them all, and recommend them, too.
