The Appointments - Trump's Swamp

It appears that people at the State Department and career diplomats are leaving in droves.

And this is one that I don't quite get. I cynically understand why Republicans would want Betsy DeVos in charge of the Education Department, or fossil-fuel interests controlling the EPA or the Energy Departments. But what's the upside of screwing up international diplomacy? The most cynical may say to foment wars to fund the military-industrial complex, but do you think that's the case here? Or just gross incompetence?

Gross incompetence and hubris is my main guess.  Then add a dash of Russian Exxon subsidy kick-backs so the clan get even richer and make Putin happy.  The latter has not worked out as perhaps they thought it would.

"The administration continues to quietly hire political staffers — more than 1,000 so far, many of them regulating industries they previously worked for — but we’ve uncovered more identities.

“The swamp continues,” says a Trump campaign official who is now a lobbyist...

Among the latest Trump administration appointees is a lobbyist who until March worked for a leading hepatitis C drugmaker that priced its treatment at $1,000 a pill and is now leading a White House working group setting drug pricing policies.

The list includes the new head of the government’s offshore oil drilling safety and enforcement agency, who previously sat on the board of Sunoco Logistics and who told an industry conference earlier this month that deepwater drilling should ramp up. Then there’s the Hollywood actor who has called global warming and climate change a “leftist political tool” and “not sound science” on Twitter and who is now the communications director at the Department of Health and Human Services.

Finally, this group also includes the 80-year-old retired chief legal officer of Morgan Stanley, who once told government lawyers he was “going to kick your ****” and is now a deputy attorney general in the Justice Department’s antitrust division, overseeing litigation while his boss awaits Senate confirmation.....

Meanwhile, the Trump administration is lagging in nominating key leaders to government jobs that require a vote of the Senate. As of the August congressional recess, the Trump administration has nominated 277 people for Senate confirmation and just 44 percent have been confirmed,.......

Jeff Sessions Is Bringing Back Civil Forfeiture with a Bang

"Here's how the police can take your assets even if you haven't been convicted of a crime....

"....President Trump even mentioned the process in a now somewhat infamous exchange with Texas law enforcement officials when he vowed to “destroy” a state lawmaker that stood in the way of asset seizures.

Civil asset forfeiture has become increasingly controversial, especially because of the extremely limited chance to appeal the proceedings. And then there’s the fact that you don’t have to be convicted of a crime to be subject to civil forfeiture —

Trump's Pick to Head DOJ Civil Rights Division Embodies 'Disdain for Civil Rights'

"Groups slam Eric Dreiband as nominee who "has spent the vast majority of his career defending corporations accused of employment discrimination"

....Dreiband's work since 2005 as a labor attorney for prominent Washington law firms Akin Gump and Jones Day, where he is currently a partner. Dreiband has defended companies like R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company in an age discrimination case, Bloomberg in a pregnancy discrimination lawsuit, CVS Pharmacy in an employee severance agreement lawsuit brought by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

Dreiband also represented the University of North Carolina when it faced lawsuits after deciding to enforce the state's anti-transgender "bathroom bill," which was later repealed....

Fly the absurdly expensive skies!

DKWf4qwUQAA0IYa.jpg

All the cabinet appointees of trump are against the American public and are seeking to destroy any kind of benefits that their departments had been responsible for delivering to the American people.

When you have got a group sitting around the table like Ben Carson, Betsy DeVos, and Rex Tillerson, it's hard to stand out as the department head who is thrashing their Department the fastest-- destroying all oversight or regulations that were designed to benefit the welfare of the American people.

Price has found a way to get at the top of the line by attempting to take away the health care of Millions of Americans.

My guess is he wants to fly in expensive private jets all over the country doing official and unofficial business because

he may have a lot of girl friends to keep in touch with ( We're trying to keep our sense of humor.)

Or it would be too uncomfortable and embarrassing for him to meet any of these Americans who are sick and/ or have friends and relatives who have existing conditions and would be losing their Healthcare--

resulting, perhaps, in some of them actually dying.

Price knows very well why he wants to fly exclusively, expensively alone.

.@wuerker takes a look at @SecPriceMD's recent flights on private charter planes http://politi.co/2xnMPPF

Fox News says Trump's people have to fly private because they're afraid of being attacked by liberals. But they all have deep Secret Service protection 24/7, which is already over budget.

According to news reports, they're doing double time for

Betsy DeVos at Education and Scott Pruitt at the EPA.

We've never had similar situations with cabinet members from previous Administrations - - I wondering what these people are doing to make them so afraid of the American people?

If You Know What You're Talking About, Get Out -

"The Interior Secretary is set to purge the Department of Interior....

...The president* handed Interior over to Ryan Zinke, a Republican congressman from Montana. Zinke has looked around his department and finds that it is honeycombed with traitors. Time to purge these treehugging subversives. From the AP:

Zinke, a former Navy SEAL, said he knew when he took over the 70,000-employee department in March that, “I got 30 percent of the crew that’s not loyal to the flag.”...Zinke’s comments echo complaints by some White House allies that a permanent, “deep state” in Washington has sabotaged Trump’s efforts to remake the government.

The “deep state,” of course, are those people who know what they’re talking about, and who know what the mission is of the department in which they serve. Out with them, immediately...

Zinke said he is pursuing a major reorganization that would push much of the agency’s decision-making outside Washington and move several agencies, including the Bureau of Reclamation and Bureau of Land Management, to undetermined Western states.

Yeah, that’s a great idea. Move the whole thing out to Cliven Bundy country, where they know what freedom is all about....

On other topics, Zinke said the Endangered Species Act has been “abused” by bureaucrats and environmental groups and needs to be reformed to be less “arbitrary.” “There is no off-ramp” for species to be removed from protected status, he said.
Zinke also offered a quirky defense of hydraulic fracturing, a drilling technique also known as fracking that has led to a years-long energy boom in the U.S., with sharply increased production of oil and natural gas. “Fracking is proof that God’s got a good sense of humor and he loves us,” Zinke said without explanation.

“Quirky.”

Trump VA chief went sightseeing, shopping with wife on government trip: report-

"...Shulkin’s wife, who also accompanied him on the trip, had her airfare paid for the by the government because she was traveling on “approved invitational orders,” a VA spokesperson told the Post.  Shulkin’s wife also received a per diem for her meals.

The newspaper reports Shulkin attended a Wimbledon tennis tournament match and visited multiple palaces in both London and Denmark. Shulkin also reportedly took a cruise on the River Thames in London during the trip......

the VA said it would begin making public a list of Shulkin’s official travel, including trip itineraries and his use of private and government aircraft.

“Veterans and taxpayers have a right to know about my official travel as Secretary, and posting this information online for all to see will do just that,” Shulkin said in the statement......

Tom Price is out and will now return to Georgia with his tail tucked between his legs.  Couldn't happen to a more worthy guy; the same guy who complained about White House appointee travel costs about 10 years ago.  Now he's offered to reimburse for his seat but the whole jet wouldn't have been leased if it wasn't for him (52 grand versus a million).  What a guy...welcome home, Tommy.

San Samurai Seppuku--

This is the latest sequel to Akira Kurosawa's Seven Samurai.

In this American version, three White House aides take on the protection of the American people from the extreme Breitbart white supremacists threatening their democracy.

The three Samurai are threatened with failure and suicide when they're not sure if their Shogun president, is on their side or not, due to dotard eccentricity, leading him to extreme bouts of narcissistic, pathological lying.

Morgan Freeman creates a memorable cameo as the reappearing ghost of

Martin Luther King jr. at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool recreating excerpts from the "I Have a Dream" speech whenever the white supremacist Steve Bannon, played by James Woods, appears in the Oval Office.

PG-13, Ku Klux Klan violence and *****Grabbing Language
