Future of Democratic Party?

No one disagrees with this per se, not even the most conservative Republicans.  BUT, who is going to pay for it and how is it going to be implemented.  Then you have to delineate what kind of job, what's adequate, decent home, "good" education, ad infinitum.

It should be noted that FDR did not implement very many of these "Rights."

The fact that Bernie would send out trash such as this is further proof that he is totally unqualified to be president or even to be in US Senate.

The "racial justice" part of that image is hilarious to me as FDR put the Japanese in Internment Camps.

Stacey Abrams to deliver Democrats’ response to State of the Union

"Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer says former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams will deliver the Democratic response to President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address.

Schumer told reporters Tuesday that he asked Abrams three weeks ago and he was “delighted” when she accepted. The role elevates Abrams in Democratic politics after she narrowly lost the governor’s race in November. Schumer called Abrams a “great spokesperson” and a leader on voting rights.....

Interesting and wise choice;  I assume Schumer doesn't wish to assist any Dem running for President and that is why the response isn't being delivered by Warren, Harris,  etc.....

In addition if Abrams goes 'too far' (as perceived by some independents \ GOP non-Trump supporters) her comments can't be uses against the Dem Presidential candidate.

AND the Dems still have a women-of-color to counter Trump which could result in interesting Tweets from the clown.

This will help Stacey Abrams in her next race, particularly if she runs for another statewide GA office.  Otherwise, won't get much traction for Dems nationally.  While she did very well in the GA governor's race, she still lost.

But as was mentioned, this will preclude give unfair advantage to the many Dems running or contemplating running for president.

Democrats Want to Know What Russia Has on Steve Mnuchin

A top lawmaker wants answers on a $25 million deal the Treasury secretary struck with an oligarch linked to Oleg Deripaska.

".... Jackie Speier, a member of the House Intelligence Committee, sent a letter to Steve Mnuchin last week seeking information about a deal he reportedly struck in 2017 with Ukrainian billionaire Leonid Blavatnik who—wait for it—just so happens to be an associate of Deripaska’s. Writing that she has “serious concerns” about Mnuchin selling his shares in RatPac-Dune Entertainment to Blavatnik for roughly $25 million, she noted the move is “especially alarming” in light of a recent New York Times article reporting that Deripaska might have gotten something of a sweetheart deal from the Treasury: .......

Democratic Presidential Candidates Say 'No' To Corporate PAC Money

.......... Gillibrand and Kamala Harris, a senator from California, have both renounced money from corporate PACs and federal lobbyists. Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren does that and goes further, rejecting all PACs left or right. These three candidates all disavow superPACs even though, legally, a superPAC can't work with a candidate anyway. And they emphasized small donor money. In the 24 hours after Harris announced, her campaign raised $1.5 million online, an echo of the midterm elections. ......

NBC News, to Claim Russia Supports Tulsi Gabbard, Relies on Firm Just Caught Fabricating Russia Data for the Democratic Party

February 3 2019,

"NBC News published a predictably viral story Friday, claiming that “experts who track websites and social media linked to Russia have seen stirrings of a possible campaign of support for Hawaii Democrat Tulsi Gabbard.”

But the whole story was a sham: the only “experts” cited by NBC in support of its key claim was the firm, New Knowledge, that just got caught by the New York Times fabricating Russian troll accounts on behalf of the Democratic Party in the Alabama Senate race to manufacture false accusations that the Kremlin was interfering in that election..........

To justify its claim that Tulsi Gabbard is the Kremlin’s candidate, NBC stated: “analysts at New Knowledge, the company the Senate Intelligence Committee used to track Russian activities in the 2016 election, told NBC News they’ve spotted ‘chatter’ related to Gabbard in anonymous online message boards, including those known for fomenting right-wing troll campaigns.”

What NBC – amazingly – concealed is a fact that reveals its article to be a journalistic fraud: that same firm, New Knowledge, was caught just six weeks ago engaging in a massive scam to create fictitious Russian troll accounts on Facebook and Twitter in order to claim that the Kremlin was working to defeat Democratic Senate nominee Doug Jones in Alabama.....

Top Nancy Pelosi Aide Privately Tells Insurance Executives Not to Worry About Democrats Pushing “Medicare for All”

".....assured them that party leadership had strong reservations about single-payer health care and was more focused on lowering drug prices, according to sources familiar with the meeting.

Pelosi adviser Wendell Primus detailed five objections to Medicare for All and said that Democrats would be allies to the insurance industry in the fight against single-payer health care. Primus pitched the insurers on supporting Democrats on efforts to shrink drug prices, specifically by backing a number of measures that the pharmaceutical lobby is opposing.

Primus, in a slide presentation obtained by The Intercept, criticized single payer on the basis of cost (“Monies are needed for other priorities”), opposition (“Stakeholders are against; Creates winners and losers”), and “implementation challenges.” ......

a significant number of Democrats who flipped Republican districts blue in 2018 were publicly supportive of Medicare for All, suggesting that it isn’t necessarily the albatross Pelosi and the DCCC believe it to be. A poll from October found that more than half of Republicans support the concept. ......

This article misses the heart of the issue here;   Corporate Dems are concerned about losing corporate donations.  So the main question to them is;  will individual Dem voters of Medicare-for-all donate a similar amount of cash?   Not likely and that explains Pelosi and the actions of these corporate Dems.

Now I'm waiting to see how Sander and AOC will respond.     Warren????   I don't think she will throw Pelosi under the bus because Warren is a phony.

California Rep. Adam Schiff (D) declared President Trump

"the greatest threat to our Republic and its democracy today."

Exactly the kind of political demagoguery speech that will infuriate moderate Republicans and independent voters and result in Trump's re-election and the GOPers regaining control of the House.

How can anyone now expect Schiff to chair an objective investigation of Trump.   This is exactly what I feared when Schiff decided to become a media darling and appear on every news program he could to attack Trump.

On target.    Dems need to read the tea-leaves from states other then CA and NY.     If they don't Trump will win the EC with the Dem candidate receiving millions more popular votes due to overwhelming 'wins' in states like CA and NY,  with Trump winning battleground states by a hair.     (i.e. even more of a delta in popular votes than in 2016, but still losing the EC!).       Dems need to watch Groundhog Day!

Recent column by George Will on how the Dems. will Win the White House FOR TRUMP!

House Judiciary Committee votes to authorize a subpoena of Attorney General Matt Whitaker if he refuses to discuss his conversations with Trump and his oversight of Mueller’s probe in testimony before the committee Friday https://bloom.bg/2DXOvEy

Surprised that all the Republicans on @HouseJudiciary voted against authorizing a subpoena of Acting AG Matt Whitaker.

This suggests GOP is scared of what Whitaker might say if he was compelled to answer questions.

Not necessarily.  They are just voting against what the Dems want to do.  Just as Dems usually vote against whatever the GOPers want to do.

Dems are fielding the most diverse and accomplished list of presidential aspirants in history.

Rules: (1) Do not criticize each other.

(2) Stay focused on the nation’s biggest problems – climate change, racism, inequality.

(3) Inspire young people.

(4) Don’t take big money.

Number (2) leaves out the most important category - MONEY, as in jobs, income, unemployment, tax relief for working and middle classes, etc.  Add in education (NO free college) and infrastructure.

I agree,  and#1 is a total joke.   A primary is a contest between individuals.    Each person has to explain why they are the better choice over the others.   So even if one stays positive,  by default they are criticizing the others.

E.g. If I say 'vote for me, I have the most executive experience' it is really the same as saying 'the other candidates lack executive experience'.

Reich needs to grow up,  but I guess that is why he has never run for an elected office.

Well since most are socialist and they believe competition is evil and creates diversity they should just draw sticks.

Of course since they also believe in quotas they will need to have a weighted lottery (similar to the NBA draft) where each candidate gets one number and; if you're a women you get one additional number.  You're a person-of-color you get one additional number.   You're gay etc....

Poor Joe,  he only gets one number.

The Democratic Primary will be a total mess based on how things are moving.  The Republicans and their "unofficial" support groups are making video records of all this to be used when Trump runs for re-election.
